It seems that more and more people are beginning to prepare for the eventual economic collapse of the world's economy. It is nice to read that people are becoming more aware and starting to prepare for SHTF. People are finally paying attention!

And the real problem is that the current regime will feel compelled to see self sifficient types who under other philosophies should be applauded, govt sees them as nothing more than hoarders who have 'unfairly' appropriated goods that would better serve the poor and unprepared. IF govt intervention wasnt such a certainty now, it could work but against a govt intending to develop an army of dependent slaves, it's absolutely unacceptable.
Too bad there is not a complete set of testicles in the top brass to put a stop to govt intervention against people who seek self sufficiency.

If nobody fights back in large enough numbers and at the same time and in the same fashion, and with ultimate success, nobody will survive in great enough numbers to reorganize anything other than perhaps a medieval existence with its attendant glories.
Hiding in caves and woods is ok for natural disasters, but wont put anyone out of the range of govt assets designed to destroy all but the best trained, organized and equipped, and that even survivalists continue to fund their opposition disproportionally well, that's not gonna be likely

I think survivalists would just as soon stay home than run out and fight.
Preparedness is key.

Those with the intelligence and foresight to equip themselves now, and hide away, will rebuild after the collapse.

The Puritans built America and there were a few hundred of them at first.

Those that fight the system will be destroyed.

The system cannot be defeated, it can only destroy itself.

When it collapses, it will devour itself completely.

When Rome fell within a generation it went from a city of three million to a city of 30,000 - the collapse will kill millions.

No government will survive.

Once the government collapses there will be no government assets hunting people down, it will be like in the film The Road with stray bands of marauders hunting other people for food.

Those dug in deep, armed to the teeth and stocked up with food will be able to live through the collapse.

Once the system has fallen, and with it all the agents of the system, then the survivalists can rebuild America locally.

Well as much as I've been dealing with this topic for years and have invested heavily in it, it's been a long transition process from hope to disillusion. Fwiw I've govt training in this, and typical of all govt training it's far too superficial and inadaquate so I've been down the various rabbit holes of reality.
Estimates within the govt expect 90% casualties within a year in the event of a natural or emp event that occurs even when govt is neutral. I'd have hoped for more than platitudes, and stiff upper lip and all that, but in my experience I dont think you can win any game on strictly defense when the offense has its vacuum hose firmly in your home and pocket and helps itself to your wherabouts and funds as it sees fit.

get a dog- or a dog with a gun.
do some what-if drills..
i have my passport.
i have other places to be.
none of this seems so crazy to me. once you are free from tv programming
you may get some of your sense back.

Not really, a decent maxim or browning beltfed makes short work of groups of all sizes if you have a proper KZ laid and interocking fields of fire, intrusion devises in place and a variety of electrooptical devices to pierce smoke and darkness.
Maxim belt loaders air fairly dear if you can find them, and handloadable schwartzlose belts now very hard to find and they do break. 1918 browning loaders are relatively common, but get spare needles. lewis drums are a real pain to load, get as many as you can and cull the bad ones for spares, pity its 303 and hard to get SA surplus anymore.
Perhaps they're advertizing for visitors because they have hogs and dont wish to purchase commercial feed?

I should hang my shingle out for teaching survival classes again. Make some money before it all goes to poop.
Funny thing is this is nothing new, it's really a return to how most of us (in the country anyway) used to live - semi self-sufficient.
I don't see the peaceful commune types faring very well, they are going to look like easy prey to some and probably will be.
The LAST thing "survivalists" are is revolutionaries. They just want to be able to live on their land in peace, something most of us can identify with.
I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be having prepared for this for 30 years now.

I strongly suggest everyone have some early-warning devices (or a dog), learn how to make simple booby traps and night vision if you can afford it. The biggest problem these folks will face will be night. You have to sleep sometime and that's when trouble is most likely to start.

Don't forget there are Executive orders that allows the Gov't to take ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in the event of a "national emergency". Only problem is we have been in a constant state of declared national emergency since 2001.

Sir I see you are from virginny and while I do grow my own virginia leaf 'backer now, what I get doesnt smell at all like storebought. Any really easy curing methods you wish to share?

Stop spreading propaganda!
I store food, ammo, water, Etc. for the chance that a hurricane might hit my home in Northern Kalifornia and nothing else.
The economy is fine because Dear Leader says so.
And in the event a hurricane hits here in N Korea Kalifornia FEMA will be around shortly to save me and sweep me away on a bus to a safe warm shelter where there is fresh food and water.
I am not one of those Psycho end of the world survivalists, I am a prepper.

Sorry. I don't know anything about curing tobacco. I do roll my own though. If you learn anything about it I'd be interested too. We are currently looking to buy a new house in the mountains and baccy is one of those things I plan to grow. I do know that every tobacco curing barn I was ever in had a very smoky smell. My guess is that they smoked it with green hickory, not sure though.
