NEW YORK – In the biggest spy swap since the Cold War, 10 Russian agents who infiltrated suburban America were deported Thursday in exchange for four people convicted of betraying Moscow to the West.

The spies left New York for Moscow hours after pleading guilty to conspiracy in a Manhattan courtroom and being sentenced to time served and ordered out of the country, said a law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak on the record.

The spy swap carries significant consequences for efforts between Washington and Moscow to repair ties chilled by a deepening atmosphere of suspicion.

One would hope so, in light of other events:

Russian-built submersibles would be able to cap the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, the captain of one of the vessels has said.

But Mr Chernyaev added that such an operation would have a chance of succeeding only if BP or the US government asked the Russian government to join efforts to stop the leak.

We desperately need US/Russian co-operation and a mending of ties that are becoming strained over Iran!

Well...Well.... thats one hell of a deterrent.....no consequences for spying.
In the 50's they executed soviet spies for stealing nuclear secrets.


Somehow it comes as no surprise to me. Google Norman Dodd, and his 80's video where he was told in the 50's the plan was to "comfortably merge the U.S. with the Soviet Union."

No, we got the better end. We gave them, 10 basically worthless spies. None of them had access to classified information. We got back a nuclear scientist plus three others. 10 to 1 would have been worth it just for him.

No one suffers exept the people..

All the spies who broke the law will be welcombed back as heroes and both Goverments will be applauded for doing it...
