i'm pretty sure the point was not that you are trying to erase your history, but that it is not a part of your bios listed on your debunking articles. that sure gives the *appearance of a deliberate attempt to conceal some pretty heavy bias.

so... why do you NOT list your credentials, in addition to "22-year veteran of NASA Mission Control in Houston, and the author of numerous books on space policy and exploration."

?

do you not believe your debunking and air force history lend credibility to your analysis? those are usually the sorts of credentials specifically highlighted, not left out.

perhaps you were just being modest

i believe the "idiot reporter" referred to was the livescience.com one. i doubt anyone would describe mr. oberg as an idiot. duplicitous and disingenuous perhaps, but not an idiot.

Toxicsurf.....

..geez, another idiot reporter.

Jim Oberg can be a little bit of a "straight shooter" at times, thereby ruffling just a few feathers here & there.

.....yeah.....just a couple, Jim!
.....

However, if you have a good look at his work you will find he has brought some very useful information "onto the table".

I wouldn't simply label him as an "idiot reporter" because to do that & ignore his work is to exclude some very interesting & useful material.

Kind regards
Maybe...maybe not

It is clear that Toxisurf used that term for Robert Roy Britt, author of the column "Classic UFO Battle Waged Online", and not for Oberg.

Best Wishes

The UFO Debate: Oberg vs. Kean

What You Should Know about James Oberg’s Track Record

By Robert Hastings
www.ufohastings.com

UFO “skeptic” James Oberg is currently challenging the validity of the material found in journalist Leslie Kean’s excellent new book, “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record.” Oberg is a founding member of a rather interesting organization, the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) now renamed the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI).

Actually, CSI is a skeptical organization in name only when it comes to the subject of UFOs. For the real story, including the very interesting and generally-unpublicized past government affiliations of some of its key members, including James Oberg, go to my website www.ufohastings.com and read my article “Reporter Duped by UFO Debunkers.”

My own research on UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites—as confirmed by declassified U.S. government documents and ex-military eyewitness testimony—will be presented at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. on September 27, 2010. At that press conference, seven ex-USAF personnel will divulge their knowledge of UFO incursions at ICBM sites and nuclear weapons depots during the Cold War era.

So what does this have to do with Oberg and his group CSI? Well, the organization's magazine, Skeptical Inquirer, has been edited since the early 1980s by Kendrick Frazier, whose profession is listed as “Science Writer” in the publisher's statement. Not mentioned (even in Frazier's own online bio) is the fact that he worked for 20-plus years as a Public Relations Specialist at Sandia Labs, a leading U.S. government nuclear weapons laboratory.

Consequently, here is the situation: Hundreds of declassified documents clearly establish a link between UFOs and nukes, a fact confirmed by over 120 ex-military personnel interviewed by myself. And who is responsible for the content of the leading debunking magazine—whose pages routinely feature articles discrediting UFOs and those who report them? Why, a PR guy who worked for two decades for the U.S. government’s nuclear weapons program!

Hmmmmm…

Also not mentioned in Skeptical Inquirer magazine, but discussed in my article (referenced above) is the fact that James Oberg, a leading UFO debunker at CSI, was a USAF Security Officer for nukes-related information who once privately chastised another former USAF officer, Dr. Bob Jacobs, for publishing what turned out to be Top Secret information about the nukes-related Big Sur UFO case. Fortunately, Dr. Jacobs later published the key portions of Oberg's letter. All of the documented details relating to this are available at my website.

So, when someone claims that Oberg is a true UFO “skeptic” or that his baby, CSI/CSICOP, is an objective, scientifically-oriented group that has no ax to grind when it challenges those who release sensitive UFO-related information—including the highly-credible individuals presented in Leslie Kean's new book—please send them to my website to learn the facts.

BTW, Kean’s book, “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record” contains the testimony of retired USAF Col. Charles Halt, who states that a UFO reportedly directed beams of light down into the nuclear weapons depot at the RAF Bentwaters airbase in England in December 1980. The book is currently #30 on the New York Times Non-Fiction Bestseller List. Let’s hope that it reaches #1 given that it should be read by everyone, skeptic and proponent alike.

The media has spun this subject for too long and need to read books like this one to get the facts.

And who might they be? Late-night comedians and university professors? Not anybody we know around here. Straw-man argument. Kean's book is even nastier -- she seems to say people who don't believe in the reality of UFOs are showing signs of mental illness. Sweet.

Kean's big problem in the book, widely shared here, is her insistence that pilots are the BEST observers of anomalous aerial apparitions, instead of -- as research has indicated -- the WORST, for very good and honorable (and safe) reasons.

The problem we have here is no matter what people see, some people will have their own logical explanation for what the person saw saw, no matter how dumb it might sound. Put it this way, if i saw a disc shaped ufo in my garden, just hovering above my house for say 30 secs, and the shot off at amazing speed. How many people will turn around and say "you did not see what you thought you saw"?

Its seems like some people find it hard to turn around and say "hey, i believe you might have saw this ufo, but that is not evidence" thats fair enough, but some peoplewon't do this. Its like their ignorance won't let them, and they have to find a logical explanation, and this is where "we are crap observers " comes along.

Dear colleagues.

Leslie Kean is interviewed today again on Fox TV channel about her book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record". O'Hare incident and Phoenix Lights were also mentioned during the interview. At the beggining of the clip, anchor has also mentioned Robert Hastings conference in National Press Club that will happen tommorow.

You can watch the interview with Leslie here:

As you can see, Leslie is interviewed by Fox Anchor Clayton Morris, which is no suprise. When Leslie was a guest on Fox Show "Happening Now" (August 27), Clayton took her aside to record interview with her for his own personal video-podcast show called "Paranormal Report". You can check short excerpt in question with Leslie on Clayton's youtube channel:
www.youtube.com...
Backup link of the complete episode in question is available here:
www.blip.tv...

To connect dots even better I have uploaded this video from my archive with Clayton during "After The Show" episode that was broadcasted at March 29th, 2009. Clayton also mentioned O'Hare incident and Phoenix lights during that show too. You can check it here:

It is great that Leslie is still keeping up with the media momentum.

Awesome! I read the book and it changed my entire perspective on UFOs. This documentary will be fantastic even if it's only half as good as the book.

Holy Bejesus! Why on earth has she included Jim Penniston?! She's tried so hard to keep to the quality witnesses and is gonna blow it with this guy.

Last year, every bad skeptic was happy to dismiss the book because of errors in Weinstein's chapter. They'll have a field day with Penniston and throw out the film on the basis of his presence.

It's like every single opportunity to avoid ridicule is blown by including hoax evidence. Kean should edit him out and make a press release explaining that Penniston is no longer considered credible.

Hiya Space, Jim Penniston went on Angelia Joiner's show and committed credibility suicide. The show's gone off-line, but I uploaded a copy here.

It's a car crash. At one point he suggests that the time-travelling aliens are us from the future and they came back just to give him a message. He then goes on that the future of mankind could be in his hands. Joiner points out that his story has changed dramatically and he sort of self-implodes. His story gets so grand and impossible that I wonder if he's gone a little mad?

If Kean wants to keep the credibility she should honestly cut him loose.
