Can someone please explain to me exactly how a solar flare could start a civil war?

Assuming for 1 second that the civil war that the OP was referring to took place in the U.S, what exactly about that day would cause people to rise up against the government if their power were to go out for a few hours or more?

Is there a big NFL game on that day that people would miss? What's the deal here?

sorry I'm busy that day

the Alie... errrr I mean Spiritual Beings are supposed
to reveal themselves that day according to another
thread here which closed before I got a chance to
post to, dang-it !!!

But I could fit the sunspot in on Sunday if
that would be ok

that thread was Tha Bomb.

However this sounds interesting... is there gonna be time for a warning? also I heard that simply unpluging your electronics would prevent damage, anyone else heard about this? 150 years or so ago they had a big CME cause the big old telegrampoles they used back then to shortcircuit. A comparable CME hitting earth now is a possible scenario

its not your electronics you have to worry about, its the power grid. A CME blast can wipe out the all major power grids. the problem after that happens is we dont have the spare parts to make new grids. they pridict it to take 1-2 years to get the country back online. scary stuff.

ugh everything is "scary" . enough with the fear mongering on this site.

ugh im not fear mongering. these are facts given by NASA. you know the people that put rockets into space. im just relaying what they are saying. this all happend before back in the 1800.

fear mongering is claming Aliens are coming this saturday july 10th. lol

Did NASA say this aswell?

From your OP

This is connects to the time wave theory. They predicted a burst on July 5th and as you can see one happened. Note: if a eruption accrues it could become geo-effective. A.k.A lights out! next timewave date is JULY 12 2010 circa - Civil War in USA or in another group of countries. I think they are saying we line up to the sunspot July 10th so if we do get a blast i can see a civil war type event. not so much fighting between states but Chaos due to no power, food, and water.

That's fear mongering!

solar flare burns out the power grid, no electricity

no electricity means no A/C and no internet or banking
thus no money

no money means rioting, anarchy

people fighting against other people for food, water,
resources gives you civil war.

Yeah but it's all a bit sci-fi isn't it? I've read about the possibility of this happening if we get hit by a large enough flare but the chances are almost non-existant. It's a load of bunk!

I dont think anybody is claiming this is a def
come to pass situation.

It's just a plausible scenario based upon a hot CME.

There was a youtube video I watched recently about
surviving after such an event. I can't remember the
name of it, I'll see if I can locate it.

Electronic Armageddon? Congress Worries That Solar Flares Could Spell Disaster

Published June 10, 2010

| FOXNews.com

High-energy electric pulses from the sun could surge to Earth and cripple our electrical grid for years, causing billions in damages, government officials and scientists worry.

The House is so concerned that the Energy and Commerce committee voted unanimously 47 to 0 to approve a bill allocating $100 million to protect the energy grid from this rare but potentially devastating occurrence.

The Grid Reliability and Infrastructure Defense Act, or H.R. 5026, aims "to amend the Federal Power Act to protect the bulk-power system and electric infrastructure critical to the defense of the United States against cybersecurity and other threats and vulnerabilities."

It cites electromagnetic pulses from geomagnetic or solar storms as the big threat to our energy distribution grid, and demands "an order directing the Electric Reliability Organization to submit … reliability standards adequate to protect the bulk-power system from any reasonably foreseeable geomagnetic storm event."

Solar storms occur when sunspots on our star erupt and spew out flumes of charged particles that can damage power systems. The sun's activity typically follows an 11-year cycle, and it looks to be coming out of a slump and gearing up for an active period.

There goes another $100,000,000.00 down the drain, in pork for some defense contractor. You should have just kept this to yourself!

The "visitors on Saturday" was pretty freaky. I'm definitely going to church this Sunday, possibly stop in for a Friday mass tomorrow...anyway, about the power grids, heat wave in the Northeast and southern US is on the news since yesterday. Probably going to cause some outages due to extra strain on the power grids. Officials are already asking people to conserve water and cook, wash clothes etc. after peak hours to help stave off problems. We live in a rural area and the power frequently goes out here.

It's quite a thing around here. Believe it or not, there are those that bend over backwards to kiss certain members backsides, at the slightest opportunity.

OT, hopefully, this Solar business will be another non event, and all that would happen, assuming a CME erupted in our direction, will be pretty Northern light shows. Hopefully.

The OP is not fearmongering - he provided a link from NASA. Some here took it off topic to aliens and it got kicked. This is something we should stay on top of and hope for the best outcome possible.

I was wondering where the date 11th and 12th came from, the link from Nasa said soon.
