Police: Conn. priest stole $1M for male escorts

rawstory.com

A Roman Catholic priest in Connecticut has been arrested on charges he stole $1.3 million in church money over seven years to use for male escorts, expensive clothing, and luxury hotels and restaurants.

Waterbury police say the 64-year-old Rev. Kevin J. Gray was charged Tuesday with first-degree larceny. Gray is the former pastor at Sacred Heart/Sagrado Corazon Parish in Waterbury.

Yet another story of corrupt church officials. What is going on with the Catholic Church? Why is it that they can't seem to get a grip over their priests? Could it possibly be the celibacy? If that is the excuse, it seems like they go through a lot of trouble just to have sex and why wouldn't the seek women?

I find it a little funny that the biggest and most vocal critics of homosexuality are often found to be the biggest homos alive. This is not only limited to Catholics but also other Christians. What's up with that and why is it only limited to Christians, for the most part?

Oh thats got to be worth at least 100 Hail Mary's don't you think ?

I recently attended a Catholic Service in a Cathedral and tbh I found the whole thing kind of creepy. I was brought up Catholic as a child but gave it up when I was about 12, I'm pleased about that.

At what point will the catholics just come out and admit they are nothing more than a bunch of gay men and pedophiles who hide behind a fictional book and storyline because they are too insecure with themselves to admit what they truly are?

I've always heard that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I guess that there are those who think they are above laws, morals and ethics just because they have say in people's most intimate personal as well as their spiritual matters. I have a few other thoughts on this but I do believe I would go off topic, so all I will say on that is that I hope that people will wake up and clean house on their churches and religious leaders. There is definitely problems there that need to be weeded out.

This has to be a world wide catholic society problem, this isn't the first time or last this is going to happen. I don't know why these people who condemn others for "sinning" are the main culprits of the deeds they say will lead to eternal damnation. It may have to do with the more they go against it, they are self projecting it.

Interesting, I guess when some people ask themselves, ... " What would Jesus do" ??

the answer seems to be to order male prostitutes. If he argued that god wanted him to have the money ( it was gods money after all) and enjoy the company of an escort from time to time.

could we really argue against him ??

that's how ludicrous organized religion is.

There is corruption everywhere. It is an epidemic. The Catholic Church is one place were it is found, but one can find it in law enforcement, the judiciary, and government. It is a good thing that this was brought to law enforcement by the archdiocese. They could have handled it internally as they have before. This institution has been rocked by scandal and has been under massive scrutiny by the general public, law enforcement, and government. Another scandal for them is probably not a good thing. However, they chose to take the right path on this one. It is a shame that a priest stole all that money from charity and his parishioners. His lewd behavior is another problem, but thank goodness he was partaking in that behavior with consenting adults.

You bring up celibacy, but it has no bearing on this incident as far as I am concerned. In fact it is rather minor, and that is something between the priest and God. The fact of the matter is, this priest committed grand larceny and stole from people in need. No doubt much of that money was to be used for charitable endeavors. Some that money went for vacations, fine dining, and other bourgeois activities. Acquisition of male escorts is only part of the fraud partaken by this thief. As for Christians being the most vocal opponents to homosexuality? That is another misconception, Judaism and Islam are also vocal opponents of the activity as well. You can find hypocrites and wolf's in sheep's clothing everywhere. There is a saying: "Those who live glass houses should not throw stones." Good thing this scum is going up the river.

While there is corruption everywhere, it would seem that the brunt of sexual corruption is done by those who are the biggest critics of such behavior. I don't doubt for a minute that such corruption is practiced in other groups or professions, it just seems to be more prevalent in the Christian religion. Now, obviously I'm not saying that this is all Christians or even most Christians but it does seem to be hitting that particular religion more than any other and also more than any other group or profession.
