Since money is useless to you, how about you distribute every cent you personally have to every member who posts in this thread.

Sound good?

Will that be cash, or paypal?

When should I expect the funds?

Just out of curiosity, since money is useless, how did you get your computer, and more importantly, how are you using a computer with electricity?

Surely you dont pay for any of it right?

You also slaughter all of your own meat, grow every veggie, and purify all of your own water right?

trep
we can sit here all day long and go back and forth
with numbers and stats depicting our points of
view however it does not change the situation
one bit and it solves nothing other than venting.
It will all be there again tomorrow morning when
we get up.

Regardless of how we differ on opposing opinion
I still assume we are friends at the end of the day.

We can do better than Wiki, though I have no problem with that source:

GDP includes only goods and services produced within the geographic boundaries of the U.S., regardless of the producer's nationality. GNP doesn't include goods and services produced by foreign producers, but does include goods and services produced by U.S. firms operating in foreign countries.

www.investorwords.com...

Is food a good? Isn't rent a service? Utilities? Not sure, could be both.

Now, if you want to look at it from a strictly goods point od view, wrong but we can do that, the farmers goods aren't a commodity until they make it to market. Until then they are just compost to be plowed under for next season. The II that help get the product to market isn't aiding the GDP? I beg to differ.

Absolutely. Just because we debate, or have different opinions doesn't make us enemies. That happens too much on this site. Health debate, imo. No worries.

My question is what is the net cost (or benefit) of having illegal aliens here?

Illegal aliens do contribute to the country by providing cheap labor and often (but certainly not always) paying taxes.

Of course, a nuanced view towards illegal aliens will never sell. Nobody wants to think about how we can minimize the costs of having illegal aliens here, while maximizing the benefits.

Why doesnt Mexico, or Canada open their borders? How about China or New Zealand?

People talk all the time that America needs to kinder, nicer, more open to everyone, why us? We give away more of our wealth than any other country on earth, when is enough, enough?

But thats the point here. We give it away, to other countries of our choosing. Illegals steal from us. I have no problem with charity, I give away alot of money, food, time, but you try and steal anything from me, youre going to be on the wrong end of a shotgun.

If we want America to stay strong, where we are able to help other peoples and countries, we need to not be bled dry by those who do work to make the country better.

I'm thinking the "adding to the economy" numbers are just as fudged. And lets not forget they don't pay taxes. And the drain on the healtcare system. And I don't know about anywhere else, but here they live 15 to a 3-bedroom home that they typically rent dirt cheap. Also, I personally have bit hit three times by illegal drivers with no insurance. Our county jails here are predominantly Hispanic now, but I'm not sure of the numbers of illegals in that. And the interpreters for court cost money. And the illnesses brought across the border cost.

Also, most of our gangs are Hispanic. Again, not sure how much of that is illegal, but I'm betting a fair portion. And don't forget all the state and federal government literature and signage we have to now produce in Spanish too. And the ESL classrooms. And the money they send home sure doesn't stay here. I'm sure the list of "incidental costs" goes on and on. Frankly, I'm not buying for one second that the benefits outweigh the costs.

And sorry, but they ARE displacing jobs Americans would take. Huge cost there.

Yes, here where I live there are always 3 or 4 families to a 2 or 3 bedroom house and yes they do get it dirt cheap. They trash the house and I have to assume the owner contacts his insurance and hires a contractor to repair the damage to the property.
I would have to say, they just created a job for some one, why can't Obama do that

Edited to add: I guess Obama will create a few jobs when we VOTE HIM OUT in 2012, We'll need to get America back on track and NASA back in space and our boarders secure, so hey, the sooner we get rid of Obama the better for America.

Groups that support immigration reform immediately attacked FAIR's report and pointed out that it is the polar opposite of the Perryman Report, a 2008 study that found illegal immigration was actually a boon to the American economy. It estimated that illegal immigrants add $245 billion in Gross Domestic Product to the economy and account for 2.8 million jobs.

Makes sense to me. You've gotta live. That means food, rent, utilities, etc.

I wonder if that study done in 2008 was before or after the economic collapse? The US economy changed radically in 2008 and if often a speed bump in history that gets overlooked.

Maybe our government should mitigate more of the costs to the taxpayers by start an organization like the Christian Children's Fund where they ask American citizens to fund the children of illegal immigrants and their families for just $.25 cents a day. I hear Sally Struthers needs a job.

Thanks for posting this. Watch the hospitals and every state entity
giving handouts go bankrupt. I wonder if I would be entitled to ALL the
benefits they leech here if I went to their country? More like jail time,
and extortion until the cash is squeezed. Then they deport you home.
This issue has gotten totally out of control. Our leaders passed the buck on
it, just as they have done with pretty much everything else, and now the
wolf is at the door. Disgraceful, irresponsible, and completely unacceptable.
Once the gates are pulled down from their communities, only then will they realize. By then, it will be too late. The fall of Rome 2, welcome to the bankruptcy of The United States of America courtesy of The Congress, The Bankers, and Corporate interests. Teddy Roosevelt is rolling in his grave right now.

That is exactly what we are facing in my town, Strong possibility of our hospital closing because of unpaid hospital bills. For all the citizens in emergency situations where time is of the essence, you are talking a lot of deaths if they have travel to the next closest hospital which is not close!

My husband having health problems came close to death more than once but thankfully our hospital was right here in town. My Father never would have lived as long as he did had our hospital not been here. My elderly mother who already had a mini stroke...well, time is of the essence in getting her to a hospital in time. I'll be damned if I'm going to lose family members because some illegals want a free ride.

You are correct in that this is totally out of control. The last time my Mother was in the hospital, she had a roomate in her eighties who applied for help with her medical and got denied because she made 3.oo too much. And yet illegals get help? This has to stop!!!!! That poor woman! How dare our government and corporations shove their own citizens aside like those lives have no meaning and take second place to a foreigner. I have seen far too much of how things have changed and at the expense of our law abiding citizens whio have worked hard their entire lives.

We have illegal drug dealers and gang members who moved in to our neighborhood. This was once a safe neighborhood. I have had enough!

Let's consider the source for the study.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is a non-profit tax exempt educational organization in the United States that advocates changes in U.S. immigration policy that would result in significant reductions in immigration, both legal and illegal. It was founded on January 2, 1979 by John Tanton who is known as the founder of many anti-immigration and environmentalist groups [1]. FAIR has its headquarters in Washington, D.C., and has been called to testify in front of the United States Congress, on immigration bills, more than any other organization in the country. The president of FAIR since 1988 is Dan Stein. The organization estimates more than 250,000 members and supporters.[2] FAIR describes itself as non-partisan.[2] It is described as conservative in dozens of press reports and books,[3][4][5] and, according to Andrew Wroe, a lecturer in American Politics and author of The Republican Party and Immigration Politics,[6] it is viewed by many as an extremist group.[7] Georgie Anne Geyer, author of Americans No More: The Death of Citizenship, describes FAIR as a "highly respected group".[8] The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies FAIR as a hate group.[9]

en.wikipedia.org...

Let's learn about the founder of FAIR:

In 1988, shortly before a referendum in Arizona to make English the state's official language, a private memo written by Tanton was leaked to the media. In this memo, he expressed concerns about the potential political, cultural, environmental, and demographic impacts of continued high levels of Hispanic immigration into the U.S., especially if the Hispanic fertility rate remained higher than that of other ethnic groups. He ended by calling for limiting the flow of immigrants to a rate that would enable them to be assimilated. However, several of his questions and statements were provocative, such as: "Will Latin American migrants bring with them the tradition of the mordida (bribe), the lack of involvement in public affairs, etc.?", "What are the differences in educability between Hispanics (with their 50% dropout rate) and Asiatics (with their excellent school records and long tradition of scholarship)?", and "On the demographic point: perhaps this is the first instance in which those with their pants up are going to get caught by those with their pants down!"[9] After the media published the memo, several prominent members of U.S. English cut their ties with the organization, including advisory board member Walter Cronkite and its executive director Linda Chavez, a prominent conservative Republican columnist.[10] Tanton himself eventually resigned, although he complained that he had been smeared as a racist.
