Holy Acronym, DARPA! 'Batman & Robin' to Master Biology, Outdo Evolution

www.wired.com

The Pentagon’s blue-sky research arm has outdone itself this time. Darpa’s got two new projects that are ambitious in scope, even by their standards...

Darpa’s launching Biochronicity and Temporal Mechanisms Arising in Nature (BaTMAN), in an effort to better understand “the spatio-temporal universe,” and, from there, “transform biology from a descriptive to a predictive field of science.”

Hilarious acronym, and fascinating subject matter. What are they trying to do? Here's the description:
www.fbo.gov...

Biochronicity and Temporal Mechanisms Arising in Nature (BaTMAN) could develop an understanding of the relationship between biological systems and the spatial-temporal universe through the application of advanced principles from the physical sciences. In defining the relationship, one aim of this line of research is to transform biology from a descriptive to a predictive field of science.

Topic areas that may be of interest include, but are not limited to: quantum biology and molecular clocks; resetting and synchronization of biological clocks and rhythms; microscale recapitulation in macroscale; evolutionary pressure and time; physiological signal processing and clocks; timing and cognition; and robustness of clocks in development.

Are these research topics or ATS threads?

- Quantum biology and molecular clocks
- Resetting and synchronization of biological clocks and rhythms
- Microscale recapitulation in macroscale
- Evolutionary pressure and time
- Physiological signal processing and clocks

Is DARPA attempting to harness the awesome power of the biorhythm? To time-travel organisms along the evolutionary calendar?

Seriously, what??

yea, this makes sense.

For example, if you set the clocks right on a chicken, you'd have a dinosaur. There are chemical processes which make a dinosaur egg turn into a chicken. For a Chicken egg is a dinosaur egg.

For example, there are more chemicals which create a personality than all the humans that have ever existed and then some, allowing each human to literally be an individual.

So, they are trying to find out which came first, the chicken or the egg? Or if a roaster lays an egg at the peak of a roof, which side will it roll down?

Sounds cool but I am in way over my head.

Lol. The egg came first, because the chicken came out of it from a dinosaur.

Let me use birds for an example.

Essentially there are three switches on right now. If we turned each one off, it would enable teeth, tails, and arms.

Sometimes these genes are activated in nature from mutation.

Indeed, the dinosaurs never went extinct. The last great dinosaur-like bird was Titanis Walleri, only 5-2 million years ago.

Wow, straight out of Science Fiction. My opinion of what these all have in common....Super Soldier perhaps? Seems if they can figure out how to adjust biology on the quantum level, actually, they can recreate or adjust DNA to whatever purpose they like....

Could be Timetravel as in the ability to use ancestor DNA, the DNA that we have currently thats been passed on to us from our ancestors, to unlock memories which could be a form of Time Travel.

I am borrowing that from Assasin's Creed in which the main character enters into his ancestors memories through a machine which somehow reads and allows him to interact with his ancestors past.

It is a really fantastic idea they put into that game's story but I never thought I would ever be around to see anybody attempt to do this. Unlocking memory stored in DNA as a means to Time Travel...cool.

What they are trying to achieve, if i am not mistaken, is an ability to understand DNA and its constituent components. What genetics has always been is a seeking of what DNA is, and how it acts. The next step is to be able to be able to predict biological outcomes based on genetic input. To speak the genetic language. To master it, not just know it.

Is this correct?

With regard to "microscale recapitulation in macroscale", I found this interesting post:

There is no 'shift' from the mechanistic to the organic --- on the contrary, the template demonstrates conclusively that LIFE IS THERE (in the 100% quantum of *action* in the first-dimension) FROM THE BEGINNING.

100% means just that -- one hundred per cent.......Collapse of the wavefunction subsequently (ie, in the seventh- to twelfth-dimensions on their complementary opposite quantum dimensions) merely consolidates the evolving organism in ('classical') Time.

It is the very special circumstances found in chemical clocks that facilitates creation of Life at the microcosmic level, as a recapitulation of the organic (holographic) universe at the macro-scale.

Furrthermore, it is only the ongoing *psycho-physical* interaction between one and the other (such that when the far-from-equilibrium system is being bottom-up physical in a quantum dimension, for instance, the cosmos is being psychical in the complementary opposite top-down temporal dimension) that makes it possible for life to exist at all.

tech.dir.groups.yahoo.com...

It appears they're viewing evolution over time as a function that collapses like a waveform into actual expression, the crux mediated by a form of quantum clock. This 'clock', of course, is not discrete, but rather recursively redefined as the waveform collapses. What look to be a complete quantum factor is present as a derived factor of a subsuming quantum expression at different locations of holomorphic recapitulation. This discontinuity in expressional possibility creates the 'punctuations' of evolution. The goal would be to selectively recast (or 'change the clock on') the evolutionary waveform via deliberate noncollapsing manipulation of mediating associative representational structures.

OR maybe someone designed the Chicken, then the egg came out of the Chicken's rick-tum.

By the time they decided to do this, how long were they planning to keep the theory of evolution as it is without any practical use.

Let's evolve.

Like why can't we consciously evolve our selves using our knowledge is the question of the century.

If we are gonna pretend we understand Evolution, why can't we evolve a chicken to something different, with knowledge we have we should have been able to do it by now.

It is just absurd.
