I recently joined the site so that I can get some creative input into an idea I have. I feel a little intimidated by the intelligence and education of many of this sites members. This intimidation will not prevent me from asking questions, I simply hope I can express myself in an intelligent manner. I look forward to completing the task of posting twenty responses to threads before I can start my own, but find it a bit daunting. I hope that I am able to add more to conversations as I learn. I believe that even tough I will continue to read as many threads as possible, I will probably make the majority of my post within my own thread.

You'll be absolutely fine...

Don't feel intimidated at all...we all breathe, we all bleed...there's far more that connects us than disconnects us.

As for feeling intimidated by any intelligence, education or otherwise of other Members...a word on that:
Most intelligent and educated people I know are the last ones to ever make someone else feel less.
Those that do make people feel less than them, well, they might not be as *intelligent* as they make themselves out to be.

Welcome to ATS.

WOW! Somebody flagged my post and scared the crap out of me, lol. I thought I had done something wrong. I had to search the forum to see what a flag meant. Dang! I've got a lot to learn.

Explanation: I flagged this thread about 10mins ago!

Sorry for not posting right away OK!

Personal Disclosure: Looking forward to your next thread!

Thanks for the kind words of welcome. I can see that those posts will be done easily on this thread but some of the other thread are a Blue Angels flyby to me.

Take your time ... there can seem like a lot of ATS-minutiae to pick up, but it all comes in time. Don't let yourself be intimidated ... there's no need ... your opinion's as important as anyone else's here. Welcome.

OOPS!!! Sorry about that first reply. I am a new poster as well and have been an avid onlooker for several years. I too have my own topic I wish to discuss as well and truely hope the best for you here on ATS.
Good Luck

I am more interested in an area of research in the UFO phenomenon that I feel ha never been seriously researched. I have an idea that has rattled around in my head for a few years now and I have done what little I am able to do to gather that information. I hope to get people with a greater understanding of scientific research than I to help me to better understand it.

Welcome to ATS.

For inteligence is also needed when dealing with other peoples emotions. Humans not able to spare a person's feelings might be very smart... he'll also be lonely in a sence... Social inteligence is a bit lacking at times but if we'd get swiped of our feet by that I feel none here at ATS would hold out very long...

Keep learning and develop a very thick elephant hide in the process.

Welcome...

I think an elephant hide is a requirement before joining any forum. lol

Kid: I saw a freaking elefant
Teacher: what do you mean
Kid I saw a freakin" elephant!
Teacher: Show me
The kids walks to the bookcase and points to one of the books. The book reads,
"African Elephant"

Welcome ChicUFO.
No need to feel intimidated, You are here for the same reason as most of us here,
There are members of ATS/BTS, that have expertise accross a broard range of topics. We are here because we are looking for the answers that we couldn't find doing reasearch online. But keep in mind Answers can pose more questions.

Good luck in your endeavour.

Regards, robbo.

Hello there! I wouldn't feel intimidated there are alot of folks on here who are very clever and knowledgeble for sure, but they were not always so.

A site like this one will build up your own knowledge and alter your perspective whether you like it or not. So just sit back and enjoy the ride!
Look forward to your first thread.

My advice if your finding the first few posts a bit daunting, is stick to the threads on topics your most confortable with and feel passionately about, I suspect maybe UFOs? Anyway good luck!

Hello and welcome to ATS! I am new as well! It can be slightly itimitdating around here, but I do believe for the most part, everyone here is just wanting to discuss their topics at hand with others. Everyone has been very nice and welcoming so far, and I believe most everyone just wants to have a good conversation and share their points of view with the world!

LOL!

These folks are scary, and don't listen to a guy named "Alien" that tells you we all breath and bleed. Half the threads on here will tell you otherwise!

I have noticed some very specific changes in myself and others after joining. I phrase and organize my arguments differently now. I thought I was pretty articulate before, but after debating on here for a few months, I feel I have improved drastically!
ATS!

I also look at people's stories differently now. I am much quicker to point out inconsistencies or spot areas that lacking in fact and fluffed up with conjecture! My wife hates this site!

A couple of pitfalls to avoid:
1. I have a thread now titled "What did ATS do before BP?" All these conspiracies come and go, and they all have the same players, just different plots. Do not get "too" caught up in them. Some are very valid concerns, and I participate a lot, but "don't be so open-minded that your brain falls out" is important.

2. Don't get fired from work! This site is addictive, and I love it, and I have to remember to get back to work sometimes.

WELCOME TO ATS!!

Intimidated? You should be. There are truly some Masters here. So much for discouragement.
For encouragement, If I can hang anybody can.

Seriously all I do is speak the truth as I know it.
That's what I recommend.

Welcome to ATS.

There were a lot of replies while I slept. I thank you all. I am getting closer to those twenty posts and am looking forward to what I can learn. I have enjoyed reading threads on the forum for a few months now but just got around to registering. Although I have joined a few forums before, I've never really joined any of the UFO forums because of all the aliens.

I am Zarthon from the planet Zorconia and I have traveled from your future to tell you the truth.

No offense but those people creep me out and I have to wonder, what's wrong with them. I have yet to run across any aliens here and I like that about this site. I believe the members here take the site a little more seriously than other sites seem to want.

Some of the greatest minds in the world have little to no common sense. Those of us with smaller educations often have greater hands on experience. Both are needed for balance.
Welcome, and I look forward to your contributions.
