I do feel though, that there is much more investigation needed regarding -

1/ Population difference

2/ Location of where people are living compared to in the past?

3/ Are humans affecting rivers/water flow etc by building everywhere, ie - restricting rivers so that they tend to flood easier and providing no escape for water due to concrete everywhere, so water is channeled into one place quickly

These are just a few off the top of my head. It's very similar to when people say there are more "Destructive Earthquakes" than in the past, when really the Technology is better for reporting them and there a loads more people living in shoddy buildings in Earthquake prone areas.

It would be interesting to see things as a whole.

Excellent observations.

In the UK more housing developments have been pushed onto flood plains, often without any warning to new residents. As water levels rise across the globe the current housing expansion into areas previously uninhabited (history should lead us here!) will mean we will see floods affect communities more - which in turn leads to the "perception" that floods are increasing.

The same goes for earthquakes - while it seems there has been an increase what is actually happening is better monitoring, more recording stations and an expansion of population and housing into new areas.

These are all from June thgis year:-

Saudi Arabia
Another national temperature record has fallen this year in Asia: 51.8 °C at Jeddah King Abdul Aziz International Airport on 21st June beat the previous record for Saudi Arabia by 0.1 °C which was 51.7 °C at Abqaiq (date uncertain).

Iraq
It is also possible that there was a new record high for Iraq recently, 52 °C at Basra by METAR on the 14th which may or may not be rounded up/down.

The existing record is 51.7 °C at two locations. Unfortunately the synop reports are incomplete with the highest reading on OGIMET at 50.4 °C on the 15th.

Chad
47.6 °C in Faya, Chad on June 22; beating 47.4 °C also at Faya on 3rd amd 9th June 1961.

Niger
48.2°C in Bilma, Niger on June 23; beating 47.1 °C also at Bilma 24th May 1998 & June 22nd 2010

Sudan
49.6 °C in Dongola on 24th June ; beating 49.1 °C also at Dongola June 1978

Asian Russia
42.3 °C in Belogorsk on 25th June; beating 41.7 °C at Aksha 21st July 2004

Kuwait
52.6 °C on the 14th June, at Abdaly beating old record of 51.9 °C in July
2007.

Also an unconfirmed report that the world's highest ever minimum temperature was recorded at Khasab, in Oman on 30th June at 41.2 °C.
