Still very much alive in my part of the country. There were so many events you could not attend them all. A gathering tonight of thousands in the park and along the riverbanks to share in the festivities, it was awesome! Family, fun, and patiotism was rampant!
The town was decked out in her stars and stripes, a ride down historic Broad ST was a treat, a parade with military old and young to honor this afternoon was attented as well, by thousands.
It is almost 1 in the morning now here, and I am still hearing fireworks.

Its because every single thing we do as Americans is now illegal or requires a paid "permit" that requires, above and beyond the money, a massive dose of brown nosing sycophantization.
Now Illegal:
FIREWORKS
BARBECUING
RIDING A BIKE WITHOUT A LICENSE
BEING AN UNESCORTED LAD OUT FISHING
CAMPING
HUNTING
MAKING AND SELLING CRAFTS
REBELLION
The list could go on forever.
I remember when you could smoke, buy dynamite at the hardware store, enjoy some firecrackers and drink beer on the sidewalk on INDEPENDENCE DAY.
But now, we're all home hiding from the control freak parasites that have choked our economy and our Liberty to death.
Enjoy it anyway: HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They try to tone it down to enhance the spirit of "multiculturalism", an insidious plot. All part of the big swindle.
No one considers themselves American anymore. There is all this talk all the time of African-Americans, Italian Americans, Hispanic Americans, Jewish Americans, etc. etc....all this PC BS is "promote diversity" which is quite simply to destroy any sense of unity among the people.
And of course, they don't want to really remind anyone about fighting against tyranny...

Do you think everyone should still be able to buy dynamite at the local hardware store? I don't. I am appreciative to know far too many people who have no business with a stick of dynamite, legal or illegal, will not be able to simply walk into a store and buy a stick.
