I was very fortunate to witness this even again yesterday, for the first time since Finningley closed in 1994, at Waddington, simply awesome.
For the record the Avro Vulcan was the 2nd of three British nuclear strategic bombers, collectively known as the V bombers (from the V shape of the
wing leading edges - swept wings were still a novelty back then).
The first was the Vickers Valiant and the last was the Handley Page Victor, for about 6 years between 1958, when the Victor was introduced and 1964,
when the Valiant was retired, all three types served side by side.
