I spent some time in the Middle East, and it was a learning experience for me. Do you know that they do not pay taxes there? Do you know the
government pays the people?
There are two major issues with my state, first is property taxes, second is sales tax.
Here are some ideas, where the state (and California could really use help) can acquire a surplus, and actually improve the quality of life for its
residence.
1) Off shore drilling - This is controversial now because of the gulf situation, but state run oil wells would provide billions of income for the
state. Don't let the oil companies run things, make you're own fuel and reap the benefits. The only thing taxed in your state would be oil and sin
taxes, but the price would be dropped by a significant amount; so the people would be paying under $1 a gallon.
2) State run casinos - Another idea for hundreds of millions a year in income.
3) Tax outsourcing companies that require business license. You plan on starting a company, but plan on providing no jobs to the community? That's
legal, but expect to pay taxes annually to the state.
4) Only sales tax would be sin tax, no other items would be taxed.
These ideas would be enough to stop criminal property tax, and abolish state sales taxes, and possibly taxes all together in the state.
I would also like to make a state law making it illegal for the IRS to operate within state lines.
The main goal would be give more power and freedom to the people, take away control from the Feds.
Any comments?
