A Catholic cleric, who described himself as a "scumbag pedophile priest," has been jailed for nearly 20 years for abusing 25 children in Australia.

Judge Helen Syme spent at least three hours summing up the charges. “The indecent assaults involved multiple children, often significant planning, were frequently sadistic and overall persistent, objectively serious, criminal courses of conduct,” she said, according to the newspaper.

Seriously, what's the deal?
What's the addiction, what's the fantasy?

Most likely I'll never understand
But sometimes I wonder, is this demonic worship?
It's too widespread in the catholic ranks for this just to be coincidence.

I don't want to generalize though, i'm really stuck on the fence and wondering, am I generalizing or not?
Does it have something to do with the catholic priesthood or is it something else?

I most definately don't think it has anything to do with normal catholics who aren't men of the cloth but the question remains.

How long has this been going on? For decades, for a century?

I do know some people who were abused, male kids being abused by male uncles for example, and I can say that it changes them somehow. One of my best friends was a victim of his uncle.

An even harder question is..... should he be jailed or should he be treated?
Your emotional knee-jerk answer will be jail, but is that the correct answer?
I don't think that will help deter this disease so I think we need a better understanding of how this addiction evovles in a person.
