Another very strong earthquake off Vanuatu

Another in a recent string of very strong earthquakes has just occurred off the island of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Preliminary data has this at 6.7. Still unsure about a tsunami at this time. More to come.

Downgraded to a 6.4.

No widespread tsunami is expected now, but they are still waiting to see about local tsunamis in the area of the quake.

There was a 7.2 quake here on May 27, 2010. There was a tsunami warning issued for that one, but no major waves occurred or were reported.
