Since apparently you didnt like the question he was asked and feel it was unfair in some way???? How about this one what happened to the money that was appropriated from congress to build a fence and add surveillance equipment along the border? Obama tride to get off cheap saying hed create a virtual wall i guess that would work if virtual Mexicans are trying to cross.

[edit on 6/30/10 by dragonridr]

you mean bush's secure fence act of 2006?

I dunno, maybe IT DIDN'T ACTUALLY WORK AND WAS A WASTE OF TAX PAYER MONEY.

your move, smart guy. try googling for at least 30 seconds next time.

First, let me apologize for the seemingly 'late' reply. We've got four pages between us at this point...

You seem like a reasonable person and I vaguely remember agreeing with you at least once before, possibly on an unrelated topic...so we've got that going for us.

I've stated before that I don't live in a border state, I used to...but no longer. You and others have brought up some great points about the violence and the disregard that some Mexican citizens have when they come to America...most, if not all, can agree that's unacceptable. However, what I find issue with is the opposition to illegal immigrants simply for being here illegally even if that is the only illegal activity they partake in.

Therein lies the problem with the debate, the belief that illegality constitutes a whole slew of improper action in everday being. They jump the border to steal or murder or what have you for some diabolical purpose that any regular American citizen is capable of. Then there are the few that are here for the 'greater' purpose of a better life, growing up with the belief that the American Dream is everyone's dream.

Let me tell you, if I lived in destitution being paid a meager paycheck by someone who not only employed me but owned my shack I would likely find myself wanting a better life just a few miles away. Five year waiting period? Thousands of US dollars in legal fees? When the average annual income is $6,000?

I'm a proponent of immigration reform...not for the criminals or those that come here just for the sake of criminality (I still question if that's the true purpose), but for those that do seek a better life for themselves and their families. I don't like the thought of being regarded as better than anyone else in the world simply because of the location of my birth on the planet.

As for the part about the effects of 7% of the population on the remaining 93%...I don't like the thought of someone taking from the system when they don't put anything into it themselves. At the same time though, the same number of people who voted in 2008 is really close to the same number of people who filed a return in 2009. Coincidence?

I feel like I'm rambling so I'll stop.

Obama was elected by one simple fact: people who were uninformed about who he was, and what our nation faced, were encouraged to vote for him. It is called "grass roots", and he had it.

That is why we do not want to encourage people who are not interested in voting to go out and vote.

Do you really think it mattered who we actually voted for? Mccain has already shown his true colors and hillary is right beside obama. No matter who you vote for in this country, it's going to be just another brainwashed puppet. This is why Ron Paul cant get past the primary and this is also why you vote for Mickey Mouse.

Who makes fun of Ron Paul? The people sit there and listen to him and think .."hey this guy makes sense". The mainstream media sees Ron Paul and act like he's a joke. The people dont think that way until theyre told too.

The way I see it JFK was the last president of the united states and we probably wont ever have another one. You cant really blame the puppets though, each and every one of you would do the exact same thing given the opportunity. It's human nature to be greedy and only care about yourself.

ON TOPIC THOUGH

This guy seems like he just doesnt know anything about the issue and he's trying to use humor to cover it up ..of course he failed.

But the problem IS that he has thought it through, and come to his own opinion. This is not what he is elected to do. He elected to go to this town hall, meet with his constituents, and gather up their opinions. If he has a counter to something someone says, a logical and not fallacious response is what he is paid to do.

While you and I may see two different things, you cannot help but notice that the truth of what I say is still untouched. He may be an old man who doesn't have time for "BS", but that is his job. To put up with the "BS" so that he can vote the conscience of those he represents. He was being disrespectful. The questions being asked were pretty straight forward, even if they are upsetting to a liberal mindset. His JOB is to answer these questions. Which he did not do. I cannot imagine a job where someone who is representing another party would be allowed to act in such a way.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'CAN I GET LARGE FRIES WITH THAT?'"

if you could find a way to separate the "bad guys" from the folks who are bringing the yearning masses to our border, then that is great. We could put that same system into use in regular society, too.

But until then, the only logical step to take is to enforce our national sovereignty by protecting our border from unapproved entry.

Something else to consider: if you allow too many undeducated masses into our country at once, it would dillute our national capability too much. I am in favor of immigration reform, but it needs to be somewhat slow to ensure we can absorb the poor and ignorant as well as the wealthy and affluent.

But your last paragraph...if that is a true statement that is VERY telling, indeed.

Of course it is rigged. But not everyone wants to discuss it on that level.
The primary point here is that we have evidence of increasing contempt by our "ruling class".

...What if the illegal immigration movement is merely a way to get Americans to imprison themselves by their own request, lock and key, inside their own country. What if Obama does everything that you have been begging him to do and the government finally secures the borders? Do you realize by locking others out, you have effectively locked yourselves in? What if, after the borders are secured and something hypothetical like martial law somehow gets declared...where are you going to run? They will have soldiers at that border willing to shoot any violation or violator of the very border laws that you insisted upon. This will imprison us all.

Consider that scenario as a possibility when you ask for border security.

Namaste and love

[edit on 30-6-2010 by PsychoX42]

I've oft consider this possibility and it is a definite risk. I forget who said it, but I remember a quote about not only will we not mind our rights being taken away, we will beg for it...or something like that. This may very well be the case as we push to put a box around our society...our police state.

In the end, the only thing I can say is, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it!

ESV

I highly, HIGHLY doubt that this is a possibility for two reasons:

1. If the government wanted to lock us in, the border could have been secured 30 years ago.

2. I can't think of any situation horrible enough to make me want to flee to Mexico.

While i am not "red hatting" the concept for them, I will point out that you would likely be very surprised at the things that you would be willing to submit to freely given the right manipulation of your reality.

On September 10, 2001 I guarantee you that we would not have had the Patriot Act passed.

Yes, Choose Love! Amen Brother.

But Red and Blue do matter. It is all that we have to fight back with. It is the Communist Progressives who are taking over. They are not real Democrats. The Democratic Party has been hijacked by these people.

Many of my friends are Democrats, and many of them have been brainwashed by these Progressives into believing that there is no Communist threat. Yes, Choose Love, it is a powerful weapon, but we also need to be aware of the threat, and make others aware. Let's hold the Republic.

The work being done today by Patriots is every bit as important as Paul Revere and the old gang. They gave us the weapons to defend ourselves with. Let's vote these jokers out. Don't say Red and Blue doesn't matter. By saying so, you disregard the only means we have available of fighting these jackals: the Constitution, the right to vote!

Anyone who can mobilize and protest peacefully, like the Tea Party Movement, is a powerful means of fighting back. Help us to prevent the Communist takeover, it's happening all around us!

Republicans are standing firm in opposition to this progressive madness. When they flood Washington during the next Congress, we must hold their feet to the fire. If they fail us this time, we may not have another chance. If this happens, I'll see you in the camps my friend.

just got done watching that ridiculous video. That Stark guy thinks hes real funny
I am so fed up with people like this who are in charge of our safety and well being so to speak. This man makes me sick
!!! Just got off from a 17 hour shift, and see this. Wow sorry to vent but, Ya! I can definetely see the death threats going to this guy. This is the type of man who could force the civillians hand upon himself. Couldnt he get repremanded for something of this nature, as in being so condescending towards a concerned citizen like this guy asking the question? Suprised someone in the audience didnt throw a brick at his head or something?
or something along the lines of an old Jerry Springer episode!! On a brighter note, thanks actually for the thread OP, it is true that this type of thing is not seen MSM, and its good to get things like this out, no matter how made it makes us. Probably will be up all night now from hearing this $#!+ heads snide remarks. Really makes me mad, but love to hear about this stuff, sounds crazy, but thats just an ATS'er for ya.

Alright miss "patriot gal." I may only be twenty years old; but at least I can write grammatically correct sentences, so I definitely have the intellectual advantage over you. So let me ask you this-if you had been born in the late 1830's and moved from California to Virgina, would you support slavery? It's legal, so it must be right, right? I'm sure you;d be thrilled to have black people doing all your work for you while you sit and be the prissy annoying, ignorant southern belle you are.

As usual I'm in a political no-man's land. On one hand, Stark is very anti-war, which is the biggest issue for me.

On the other, he's a completely arrogant ass-hat, and even if I agreed with him on immigration (I don't), I still wouldn't support him.
