Toronto police questioned after summit arrests

Absolutely nothing. The exact same thing could be said about the people of his constituency though.

The police have a duty to protect people and property. I have no quarrel
with this.

My argument is that police should be in uniform and wearing badges.

My argument is that the use of agent provocateurs during protests
constitutes a violation of trust, and laws should be applied immediately
forbidding use of such agents by any government agency. And then those
laws should be given big, gnarly, penal TEETH!

My last argument is that at Canada's G20 (as observed by many user
submitted youtube videos) police were not only arresting rioters,
but also arresting innocent and peaceful protesters. Several
videos I watched showed police moving forward from their line in small
groups to grab what appeared to be innocent onlookers. This behaviour
WILL incite riotous behaviour.

Okay, my last, last argument...
If you are at a protest, and have a camera, back up until you are
clear of the action physically...zoom in on the action, and remember these
four words...KEEP THE CAMERA STEADY!

"I see, thanks so much for the enlightened response."

Please don't thank me, since the enlightened part of my response was not really meant for you.

The police have a duty to protect RICH people and THEIR property. Don't mistake on that. They are NOT there for you. They are to protect the very few and only the rich. They always drop that off on the advert on their police cars.

Sorry I missed all the action last night.

there is a rally today at Queen's Park... 5:30pm for those who are in the Toronto area.

I"d just like to say as a CANADIAN that I am very disappointed and OUTRAGED at the garbage that was pulled in my own country. I've watched the msm and their point of view and i've watched a number of you tube vids posted by people who where there.
1. The black Bloq. They set the fires and destroyed public property with no police involvement for an hour and 40 minutes. (if i was a cop i'd just follow the guys in black and facemasks around till they did something, hell I'd arrest them for covering their faces) last time i looked it is illegal to cover your face except for halloween. try walking into a store anywhere in Canada with a facemask on and test this theory if you don't believe me! Why were they not arrested on sight?
2. The cops. What do you expect to happen when you corral 50 people into a little circle with no where to go except through you. I watched the vids of it happening from up high. when you pen people up like cows and pigs and sheep eventually you freak out and try to do anything to get out. now add in that the cops are beating on there shields right in front of them and giving them no room to breath. I'd freak out to and someone whould be getting the smack down.
3. the protesters. a. For one if your going to protest.......HAVE A D*MN POINT! Don't go looking for trouble and then cry when it bites you in the ass. Go looking for trouble and then say "YAH I made a point and this is why i got arrested". b. You have a right to protest and don't be afraid to do it. I saw many people get arrested with no reason to be had.......make sure you sue them all from the cops to the mayor to the prime minister. They had protest sites set up......why did the cops infringe on their areas without provication........and no you dirty cops BADMOUTHING YOU is NOT provocatation......grow some skin.
4. The government. setting up in an area that you know will bring bad things to it is not just bad planning, it's a waist of our money. you should all be fired and charged for the 1.45 billion and then imprisoned for all the harm you caused. I'd start with harper and work my way down. Dumb asses. It was premeditated assault on the people there and Canadian citizens as a whole! They had put the 1 billion up for security before it happened. That makes it PREMEDITATED! Also way to go Harper on spending 1.45 billion on security and then pledging a couple of more billion to other country affairs. Why didn't you take that money and put it back into CANADIANS! I'll be voting your sorry ass out and say hello to the wild rose party!
5. THE G8/G20/BIldeburg group. Piss off and never come back to Canadian soil. No one wanted you here. No one needs you. No one wants to hear about your ideas and ideals. Have a phone conference or a navy ship conference or how about NO conferences at all! Your Marxist Socialist agendas need to be kept in your own houses. P.S. Take Harper and his WHOLE government with you!

First of all the "possible" protestors were all sleeping or resting in an area when without warrant, cause , explanation ... they were tossed around and arrested : So ***k lightening up....You break the law, your a criminal.... So guess what ? Your a police officer arresting 1000 People without actual authorisation... then yep your breaking the law.

Let's not even talk about the racial slander of some that were taken into holding facility's. No medicine, No Rights, No phone call and treated to less then a POW and stripped search

Yes it is a crime to treat prisoners in this way. You cannot in a country that has adopted the Geneva convention , treat your own people in any less way that you would an enemy combattant.

Yes, the "Peaceful" bit is not an ancillary and inconsequential thing, it's intrinsic in the fundamental right. And, when a demonstration is not peaceful the police have the responsibility to intercede. But that intercession must not include the peaceful.

Lack of balance was demonstrated on both sides: Protesters and police.

Total garbage. A "peaceful protest" is a protest by their rules, which isn't a protest at all but rather a submissive complement to them.
