This issue is one of the hot topics that we need to discuss. I think the scenario is already set. Saudi Arabia has already open their air space for the bombers. Israel is doing whatever they please against Palestine. US already dispatched their ships and troops. World cup?? great!! now everybody is looking the soccer a few bombings and invading will go unnoticed/

And why iran??

EASY!! They have the biggest reserve of Gas in the planet. So you have Iraq, the second biggest and now Iran.

And the spill?? well of course we cannot use that oil so, they are rushing to complete their plans pressing Irans neck.

Happy nuclear winter guys meanwhile everybody is spreading xenophobic fear for south of the border.

Edit: Not trying to run this thread aground or anything. Just want to know if Obama is really trying to head to SA right now...

Hasn't Iran already backed down from sending a ship to try to break the embargo/search efforts? I suspect they would back down from a lot of other things if we didn't have a wuss as president.

And I can't believe someone said he respects Castro. The man murdered and imprisoned his political opponents and continues to do so. Also, if he was such a great leader, why do people risk their lives to escape the island of tyranny which he has created?

And if the USA via Israle transferred nukes to South Africa, where are they now? The apartheid regime did not use them, clearly.

It's the US/Israel vs Iran hardly a war. Just like Afgan or Iraq It'll take 2 weeks to crush their military and that's it. Anyone who says otherwise is highly ignorant and more than likely the biggest moron you can come across.

Now I fully expect an influx of posts saying "Lol America's still in Iraq so how two weeks" etc etc, really no need to explain such a thing. If you aren't capable of figuring that out, you are indeed a lost cause.

[edit on 29-6-2010 by Gakus]

Its you that is a lost cause! You don't invade a country JUST to destroy their military assets and then get out. America and her small coalition took nearly 2 months to destroy iraqi targets and iraq was a much smaller country with at least 50% of the population that did not support sadam.

The iranian dictator has widespread support among his people especially with the older folks. In fact he is not even a dictator since he was populary supported by the people so the military will not ignore him as they did with sadam.

American soldiers are chicken # and over-feed. They don't have 50% of the fighting stamina of any middle easterner including israelis. They relly SOLELY on air power and advanced techonology to win wars but mopping up is definitely not their fortay.

Besides america, russia and china have no business defending israel because israel is more than capable of defending ITSELF and has proven it numerous times in the past. If israel wants to destroy iran's nuclear plants let them but lets not get the rest of the world involved this time.

America needs to take care of its own problems such illegal mexican immigration and plugging the BP leak so clean-up efforts can be effective. FOCUSING ON IRAN AND NORTH KOREA MEANS SOME PEOPLE CANNOT GET THEIR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT!

The majority of iranians support ahmadinejad otherwise they would have toppled the regime a long time ago. They don't need america's help to do that!

What percentage got murdered? What percentage got enprisoned? What percentage hate communism so bad that they try to flee their own nation? I suspect the answer to all the above is very low or there would have been a coup d'état long time ago.......again cubans don't need america's help to install a capitalist fake "democracy".

Russian and china switched from communism(not socialism) to pure capitalism and look at the mess they made. They sold their people and property out to the highest bidder. Capitalism is worst than communism and both don't work!

Castro and his thug friend were gonna make the US a field of glass....scaring McNamara when he found out years later.

Thats why I wonder why anybody in NA wheres Che garb. Really...that would be like Japs from Nagasaki where USA t shirts.

Che was a bloodthirsty individual. Read your history.

Freedom was far from their ideals...

Castro is not our friend...he is a friend of Communism.

That being said I have respect for Che and Castro as they outwitted the US government.

A stopped clock is right twice a day,Castro rules Cuba with an iron fist so he doesn't have to lie to anybody there...plus he has one foot in the grave and nothing to loose or prove anymore...he could very well be right about this.

If the US attacks Iran -- then I think it's time to move.

IT would be the dumbest thing we've ever done, and the PRETENSE of any decency in our foreign policy would be laid bare.

This nonsense from Israel about Iran having a bomb -- if Israel can actually ALLOW inspectors into their nation, and they can prove they don't have many, many nukes -- that would be an astounding, unlikely thing.

>> Though I don't think we are going to invade -- we've been having a "emergency" stance with Iran trying to stir up an ants nest for years now. The only URGENCY here -- is that the youth in that country are sick of the Mullahs are are interested in a REAL DEMOCRACY.

IF we invade, we will give them touch-screen voting machines from Diebold, and tie them in with the World Bank. Then they can have the phony Democracy we have, with the Chewy Fascist center that covers up a handful of nuts.

I'm so sick of this Security theater. The gulf is dying while our military spends Trillions pretending to protect us. Are we safer yet? How about taking a swim in the Gulf -- that's going to kill you with more certainty than Al Qaeda. If you see Moby Dick or al Qaeda that isn't attached to the FBI handlers -- make sure you handcuff them to a Unicorn.

So, don't worry everyone -- Iran is only in danger of having people turn it Democratic -- and they need the US to act like Bin Laden.

why do you think this boob, who has led an entire population to the brink of poverty would be a credible source for anything let alone and predicting nuclear war. Iran does not have that kind of nuclear capability and won't for some time. They even backed off sending ships to test the blockade, or don't you read. They blinked and why do you think that is genius. it's because they would get bombed into the stone age and all with conventional not nuclear weapons. The Iranians may be crazy but they're not stupid. Go back to sleep, we'll wake you up on July 3 when nothing happens.

It's not like Gillard or Cameron or Obama doesn't know this stuff. What are they doing? Nothing.

If you think that Ahmadinejad and Chavez "speak sense", then I have a feeling that you have none of such (Much as they). I apologize for tossing forth insults, but that is a truly absurd statement on your behalf. The individuals which you are putting forth on a pedestal, are in fact among the most demented and brutal dictators of our modern times.

If the Iranian government starts a war on such a large scale, then it will be greatly weakened on the domestic front, which will allow for the dissenting populace to quite possibly seize control of that nation once-and-for all.

It is not "Xenophobic" to want to protect and secure your national borders, but that is beside the point here, is it not?

As for Iraq, if we invaded them for all of their oil and gas, then where are we seeing the benefits in the marketplace? Our nation is on the verge of financial collapse, the security situation within Iraq has stabilized considerably, and yet we still bear witness to no any gains emanating from the oil within that nation. If we were to ever witness such profits from our invasion of Iraq, we would most certainly be taking advantage of them right now.

You forget that we handed over the governance of Iraq to their own people, and they control their own assets. Sure, we can cut deals with them, and possibly pressure them more so than the Saudis (Regarding "fossil fuels"), but we still have to barter with them as we do with any other independent State upon this planet. Regardless, most of our imports are still Saudi based, and I fail to see any facts which back-up or correspond to the assertion that we "Invaded Iraq for oil".

If they were the only one's saying this, and if the economic climate didn't suit war, then I'd agree this would be another of their loony comments.

And then there's the 3 carriers & several other warships in the Persian gulf, Israeli F15's given use of Saudi Airspace, upgrades of Saudi F15's, allegations of US troop build-ups in Azerbaijan, Iranian media reporting tanks & artillery moved to the N.West of Iran.

Have I missed anything???
