Fidel Castro should become an ATS member!!!

He predicts an event: Nuclear war
He states a deadline: July 2 (or before)
He warns of societal collapse: Massive food/supply shortages
He creates a disclaimer: I am not a prophet

I think Fidel Castro would find himself at home here on ATS!

I'm just surprised Castro didn't have an advertisement for gold coins at the end of that letter (now that's a die hard communist for ya!).

I honestly couldn't have put it better.
Complete and utter balderdash.
Honestly - if he were a member (one has to assume his username would be "BigCigarMan") he'd make his posts and get bashed from left to right.

A couple of points:
The letter starts with mention of "his country" and the quarter finals of the World Cup... that such a letter starts with discussion of the Quarter Finals of the World Cup and leads into Nuclear War is laughable.

One has to assume that Fidel knew the odds of USA getting to the Quarters... they'd have had to play Uruguay in the Round of 16 (if they'd have beaten Ghana - which they didn't). Personally I think Fidel is laughing to himself about this post... I mean come on people... USA in the quarters...

And then someone else waffles on about "his country" meaning Kenya... erm... Kenya weren't anywhere near the World Cup Finals - they didn't qualify.
Good Grief.
I thought this year was bad on ATS... it just got even worse...

Anyway - back to the UFO Forum for me... but that's completely lame too... has been for a long time.

Personally I can't wait for the final... my prediction is Argentina vs Brazil... a close one...

The chances of his letter coming anywhere near the truth are about the same as ENGLAND winning the World Cup (ie... impossible).

Under the current situations in Iraq and Afghanistan - with all those issues, do you anywhere near seriously believe that the US would start to rattle swords at Iran... c'mon.

Can't wait for Fidel to be debunked... he'll be un-friended on Facebook and ignored by ATS members from left to right...

(Please take this post with a pinch of salt).

Doubt it. Russia a Putin away from collapse.

Russia is a bear. It has strength beyond words on the front. But a knife to the back brings it down. It has a powerful army. But it has no knowledge on how to use it fully. They have a people that would revolt if Putin died.

To put it frankly, Putin is the glue holding Russia together. After him, God only knows. Could be peaceful, or it could be a civil war.

Wow!! ... considering you just posted in this 'place just for broken people', and then proceeded to pour 'hate' on the other posters (low self esteem perhaps?) I would call your post a spectacular own goal.

@ OP ... interesting thread, though I'm not a fan of Mr Bearded Cigar.

He does make some interesting points, but I don't think things will escalate as quickly as he says. They may get as bad as he says, but it will take a while to get there. One can hope and pray that common sense, self-preservation, and cooler heads prevail

As long as muslim fanatics don't let israel alone and the iranian leader keeps talking trash the possibility of a middle eastern battle royale escallating to WW3 will be real.

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail but I don't know for how long. Russia and china have a vested interest in the oil rich muslim nations because they trade oil for weapons. The USA, and to a lesser degree europe, also have the same vested interests in the area but are using israel(while israel is using USA for security) to fight off islamification and russia/china.

Israel is the load bearing pivot point in this international conflict. Yes the jews deserve a homeland and yes they are partially fullfilling their dream but I fear Israel will become the great scapegoat to satisfy satan's sacrificial desires. Ritual sacrifice has been a common occurance throughout earth's history especially on the american continents. This time if satan has his way WW3 will be the mother of all sacrifices making WW1 and WW2 look puney.

Communist leader castro may not take religion seriously, as most left wingers do not, but he certainly is not stupid. You are 100 times more likely to learn truth through socialists, communists, libertarians, greenies or any other "fringe" group than you will hear from the demo-republican corporate mouth pieces.

Well damn.

At least he could do that. Unlike my last Prime Minister Kevin Rudd who couldn't even convince his people that he needed to remain in power for the rest of his 4 year term.

I stand by what I said. The man isn't a fool. I think his opinion carries some weight.

But not only that unlike our politicians he isn't a poll jockey that isn't deathly afraid of saying anything without a Teleprompter and can only communicate with us on the basis of 30 second sound bytes.

Anyone that wants to rail against these "tinpot" dictators from the smaller nations needs to realise the guys we've got in charge of our countries are absolute jokes and sellouts too.

They're more worried about lining their own pockets and their sweet new job at the banks after they get out of office after going to war and ripping us all off for years.

And yet another straw man argument. These rich people at the top of the U.S. food chain that supposedly care nothing for it's people, would be okay with it's own WORKFORCE THAT MAKES THEM RICH getting nuked?

The logic you people use (or rather, lack thereof) on this site is mind blowing.

The US Industrial and manufacturing "Work force" has all been "outsourced", or haven't you noticed? Except for the black projects....

The closing of US mills and moving of those manufacturing facilities offshore...since the 70's has made those same members of the corporatocracy somewhat immune from a loss of production capacity from the consequences of a nuclear holocaust in the US.

And imagine how much construction and rebuilding, how many jobs, those sick, poisoned American survivors would have!

What a plan!

I pray Castro is wrong, but am grateful he stated those words.

Apologies to all for my absence, in what turned out to be an excellent discussion, over a letter written, with "possible' implications to us all. I was called away on a personal matter last night, and had to work all day.

Thank you for your kind word's, in regards to this thread, which may prove to be, either newsworthy, or instead be religated to the ATS round file so to speak, depending on the next few day's events.

I too agree with some of you, that Fidel has nothing to gain or lose in this document, as he has seen it all, and or been through it all, if you wish. Therefore, I do not believe he is out to grandstand, or perhaps "punk" the entire country of Cuba, along with the rest of the world. So either, he has concern beyond the norm, or he is simply making a dying declaration to the country of his birth, in order to prepare them, for what "he" feel's may come to pass. Either way, I do not see him as needing the noteriety, nor the attention this would bring, as he seem's to be well past that now.

That being said, the letter aside from the obvious points in regards to "The World Cup" appears to raise a number of issues which many of us, are currently concerned about, with a certain number whom could care less. If, and I say If, this comes to pass, I'm certain that we will be much more concerned with the event's that are happening, than with a letter written, that predicted them.

He will not be remembered as the one who warned us, but IMO as one of many who warned us. The actual war and resulting tragedies will take precedence, not the prior notice. Let's hope that all will be forgotten, and I must say, although the response to this thread has been fantastic, I would sooner see it fade away, than continue, if god forbid, this should come to pass. So for now, I will share in the discussion, as I am able, and hope with the one's who along with me, would rather languish in humdrum, than be blown away by the "Letter From Castro" coming to fruition, and the World we would find ourselves in, from these days forward.

All in all though, 11 pages of excellent dialougue, on a subject that fascinates us all, and amazingly never seeming to have descended much into backbiting political namecalling, or idealogical infighting....for the most part, that is

ever since gorbachev, Russia has fallen to arse with holy support of good company of traitors, time just played for profit to haters of Russia, but a few time ago some moments were changed: Season of Natural Disasters came in its final stage. No doubt, That will be very hard Time for everyone around the World, but it's really good happening, because it gives Great Chance for humans to create better Civilization, than so-called "NWO", ruled by clowns of present days, who exchange normal-common-peaceful Work for war versus finger-made ghosts(world terrorism, financial crisis etc).

I do not have a clue what your cryptic statement means.

What is true is this. if the NWO wanted a war, they would make a war. Right now there is only one single nation on Earth that could possibly Threaten them. China. And all signs show China has no intention of giving a crap about anything but money and nationalism. Even if we tried to provoke a war with them, they would just demand our debt and shun us off.

The only thing scary here is that so many actually believe that Castro is still alive, or, even able to write this letter, even if he were alive.

Actually it's not scary, it is really funny in a sad and rather pathetic way.

Whenever you give credibility to a Dictator with a long history of killing or jailing those who do not agree with his politics, you help to legitimize that as well.

Look what the romanticizing of Che has done to many of our youth. They turn off their minds when reminded of the slaughters attributed to Che.

These people should never be mentioned without a reminder of who and what they are, or history will only preserve the false version of who they are. We see this all of the time now.

Ask a young person about the USSR, Stalin, Mao or any other travesty of history and they simply do not know the truth any more. Why? Because those who happen to like a writing or statement made by them to calm and control their victims, end up preserving that to history and that is what future generations are taught. The future needs to know the dangers of their idea's.
______________________________

As to this topic. The ramblings of a sick old man who is likely well into dementia. I guess it is interesting to those who seem to want these theoretical wars to happen right now, to prove a point.

How many false flags have had here on ATS? Iran has been seconds from invasion for how many years now? If a fly farts in Israel, WW3 is moments away.

Let me guess, your age is somewhere between 50'-60's, right?

It sure seems that way because of your surety that the "truth" is the dominant propaganda spouting during the formative years for people in that age range.

Communism was never a threat to the US. It was always a threat to economic interests who owned our politicians. RUSSIA and CHINA were a threat to the US at one time, but not because of their ideology, because were were trying to bring about their internal collapse. (And we succeeded in both cases, one in a very obvious way, the other more subtly. )

How can I pretend I know this? Because China is still officially "Communist" but now they are open for business to the economic interests, and so all of a sudden its just fine.

Dont be a patsy. Shake off your conditioning and think for yourself.

They would have thought you mad had you even suggested it!

Precisely. Just when we think that we have connected all the dots, the TPTB pulls up an ace. Massive naval buildup doesn't happen on the basis of any individual's whims and fancies. And while this naval buildup is currently underway, corporate MSM networks worldwide are focusing solely on the soccer world cup. Iran is getting little or no MSM coverage.

Also, who would have thought that Russia would invade Georgia and would stake claim to Abkhazia and South Ossetia while the Olympics games was underway in 2008?

It's no different to me from listening to a POTUS. They're exactly the same. Don't think for a minute I'm one of your Neo Con friends.

Do you think by listening to a POTUS that I legitimise your criminal leaders? Who also have a long history of killing or jailing those who do not agree with their politics?

No. I'm assessing how much of a threat to me they are and if their words have any merit.

I'm only loyal to my country and my wife and kids. The US and it's issues are not mine. Neither are Israels.

Not all of us live in superpowers that seek to impose their world view on others by force or neo imperialistic culture.

Some of us realise that Cubans and Iranians are just men like the rest of us. Trying to get by in this crazy world.

Your cause is no more or less righteous than theirs. For in truth it's all in your own head. And in reality the universe is a very cold uncaring place and mankind is just as primitive and savage as it has always been.

My thoughts
Russia has been given something by the US. Think about what could happen if the US and Russia allied. That could very well bring Russia back to being a superpower, some believe Russia's goal is to becoma a superpower again.
The Russian president just payed a visit followed by the capture of spies from his country. The Russian president probably hand delivered those names to Obama.

If the US goes to war with China it's game over for the chinese economy. China isn't as skilled as the US in printing money out of thin air. Talk to most economist and they all say the same thing, China's economy isn't as strong as everyone thinks and its very fragile. depends completely on US debt and US citizens buying crap they don't need.

The U.S has Iraq. My thought is that Russia will soon be in control of Irans Oil fields.

These are just my thoughts.

The U.S must have struck a deal with the Russia. Maybe, Russia might be getting a significant share of the spoils in Iran and central Asia once the dust settles.

The Russians are already backing off from Iran, China won't get involved either.

It's the US/Israel vs Iran hardly a war. Just like Afgan or Iraq It'll take 2 weeks to crush their military and that's it. Anyone who says otherwise is highly ignorant and more than likely the biggest moron you can come across.

Now I fully expect an influx of posts saying "Lol America's still in Iraq so how two weeks" etc etc, really no need to explain such a thing. If you aren't capable of figuring that out, you are indeed a lost cause.

Listen to him, yes. He's still coherent. Believe in him and his wisdom, no way.

He is/was a ruthless dictator looking death in the face and now realizing he's an old man with a lot of baggage.

Fidel, it's too late to reform yourself and your bad behavior.

Obviously the left the world over is infatuated with him...

The left doesn't give a crap about the story FROM THE CUBAN PEOPLE, and would rather believe the lies of a despot dictator than the millions of Cubans who have escaped the leftist dictatorship...

I have seen and heard lefties in the U.S. ramble also about another murderous coward, known as Che, yet these people don't know that Che believed that once a Socialist/Communist dictatorship was set up that people shouldn't rebel and should do everything the government tells them to do, and those who do rebel and speak agains the government should be executed. BTW under Socialist/Communist doctrine such despots don't need any sort of proof against you to get you executed...

Youth must refrain from ungrateful questioning of governmental mandates. Instead they must dedicate themselves to study, work and military service. The very spirit of rebellion is reprehensible.

www.sodahead.com...

Che Guevara himself said he only needed "revolutionary conviction" to execute anyone...

"Executions?" Che Guevara exclaimed while addressing the hallowed halls of the UN General Assembly on Dec. 9, 1964. "Certainly, we execute!" he declared to the claps and cheers of that august body. "And we will continue executing as long as it is necessary! This is a war to the DEATH against the Revolutions enemies!"

According to "The Black Book of Communism," those firing-squad executions had reached around 10,000 by that time. "I dont need proof to execute a man," snapped Che to a judicial underling in 1959. "I only need proof that its necessary to execute him!"
...

www.studentnewsdaily.com...

He was a bloodthirsty murderer who executed people and even families who would speak up against the Socialist dictatorship.

My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood…Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any surrendered enemy that falls in my hands! With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial howl!” (From Che’s own diaries, later immortalized as The Motorcycles Diaries, though we note that executive producer Robert Redford “overlooked” this unquestionably dramatic citation for his movie.)

www.sodahead.com...

Several prisoners who survived the La Cabaña death camp recall one dark evening when a 14 year old boy was thrown into their holding cell. The boy had unsuccessfully tried to defend his father from Guevaras assassins. Guards came and dragged the boy out of the holding cell. Che ordered the boy to kneel boy, put his pistol to the back of the boys neck, and fired. Such is the bravery of Che Guevara.

www.fortliberty.org...

In a Socialist/Communist dictatorship like that of Cuba every person truly belongs to the state, which coincidentally is what the left has been doing in the United States slowly.

There is no "invididualism allowed" in a Socialist/Communist dictatorship, and that's another aspect of Socialism/Communism which those who follow such doctrines for the most part don't seem to comprehend.

As proclaimed by Hillary Clinton in her book, It Takes a Village, Castro also boldly stated that the children belong to the State. Forced labor and indoctrination disguised as education was enforced with a gun. Children were forcibly taken away from their parents at a tender age and made to do hard labor in the cane and tobacco fields. The American media saw it as Cuban patriotism, as did the useful idiot American students who travel to Cuba with the Venceremos Brigades.

www.haciendapub.com...

But I have seen Americans who belong to the left proclaim that "forcing people for the good of a nation is a good thing"...

Meanwhile castro is writing, obviously to the dumbed down masses around the world in this fashion, and meanwhile people and children in Cuba are going hungry and suffering, he is also probably writting to, and encouraging the Iranian president to start a nuclear holocaust against what he calls "the imperialist worms" (gusanos imperialistas)...

BTW, in case you people didn't know if you believe in Socialism/Communism but you have any type of business you are an "imperialist worm" to castro and others...

Edited to add: (actually the proper word used by Socialists/Communists is "worms" or "gusanos")
