Pray For The Gulf and The Rest of Us (poetic)

Black gold, Texas tea
now pouring out into the sea
spreading muck for many miles
killing those of innocence wild

many mistakenly call it a spill
its worse than that and it is real
poison clouds and toxic rain
will soon become the southerners bane

who can predict the consequence
can anyone look and make any sense
of the mess that now stares at us all
what’s gonna happen when this thing falls

tidal wave, tsunami you say
run for hills get out of the way
hurricanes can spread it too
from here to there from me to you

beaches covered with sludge and slime
i wish that we could turn back time
the doomsday clock is ticking strong
some will laugh and say your wrong

I don't have the answers I'm just a simple girl
whose to say if this foretells the end of the world
we are all gonna suffer one way or the other
the gulf is a very big part or our earthly mother

Say a prayer for the air we breathe
and for the death of part of our seas
for the animals that are losing the fight
and for the wrongs to be made right.

Ask that the earth ceases to bleed
that the wound is healed that’s what we need
ask that the poisons stop being sprayed
if you believe or not it does help to pray.
