A pre-dawn fire that set off ammunition at a police evidence building was likely linked to six booby trap attacks on law enforcement officials in this small Southern California town, authorities said Monday.

No injuries were reported in the fire inside the unmarked building. Arriving firefighters also had to deal with heavy smoke and security locks.

The fire was doused in less than 30 minutes.

"This makes us think whoever's behind this is letting us know they're still out there," police Lt. Duane Wisehart said. "It just doesn't end. We're doing everything we can."

A morning fire set off ammunition at a police evidence building,

this incident is believed to be linked to the six other booby trap

attacks over the last 6 months on law enforcement officials in

this small Southern California town of Hemet, located about 90

miles southeast of Los Angeles.

There were no injuries in the fire, firefighters had to deal with

security locks along with heavy smoke. The fire was put out in

less than 30 minutes.

The incident remains under investigation. "Detectives were

trying to determine how much of the burned evidence was

involved in cases awaiting trial". Police Lt. Duane Wisehart said,

"This makes us think whoever's behind this is letting us know

they're still out there," also saying "It just doesn't end. We're

doing everything we can." Referring to incidents in the past

where on Dec. 31, a natural gas pipe was rerouted into the

headquarters of an anti-gang unit. In another attack, a ballistic

device was strapped to a fence at a gang task force compound that

sent a bullet flying by an officer's face.

Investigators are saying this is the seventh attack in the past

six months targeting police and city property.

Local and federal authorities have offered a $20,000 reward for

information leading to the arrest and conviction of those behind

the attacks.

well if everybody remembers not so long ago
they raided another group who they CLAIM
were responsible for these incidents. Raided
people and took their guns and property and
claimed a victory. Guess it sucks to be wrong!!!

This sound more personal than anti establishment or terror type of attack....
They should be checking who they sent up to the bighouse in the past for likely suspects...probably they have an idea who would be up to this mischief anyways just no solid evidence....

Very few police department would advertise where there evidence storage building were and likely they are keep secret or a lot of criminal would be trying to burn down the building and rid themselves of evidence against them.

So how did this group even find out about this building.

I know of one police department that has there unmarked evidence storage building in a industrial area of town with a high break in rate.

They get about two buglers a month that don't know what they are breaking into until all the cops show up.
The building has cameras inside and out and alarms everywhere.
all connected straight to the cops dispatcher.
