That camera has a 5.7x Digital Zoom. Not an Optical Zoom. That means when it "zooms" it is an interpolation by the camera. Anything moving would be greatly distorted and may not even resemble that shape.

You mentioned you had it zoomed all the way in. That could be almost anything reflective, even an airplane and you could not tell. A digital zoom fills in the info based on adjacent pixels. You typically end up with blocky shapes.

I know that does not help, but it lets you know the shape is the product of an interpolation and not an actual detailed photo. What was actually there would only show in a picture without the digital zoom being used. If it was moving, that makes it even worse. Interpolation does not factor in movement and add to that a flare from the sun reflecting off it and well, you know.

I recently had a new home built and that image reminds me of a metal roof shingle...

...now I suppose it could be a kite as well.

I know you said it was waaaay up there, but kites can achieve heights in excess of 10-15,000 feet. I wonder if maybe an aluminum shingle could be blown off a house, tossed up in the sky and get caught up in a jet stream?

its 100% not a kite. it was WAY to high
It wasnt a plane, as there was no contrails coming from behind it.

very odd...the only thing I can think of is that it's something that's fallen off a 'plane.

To me it looks like some type of satellite made out of clouds, or just a good old holographic projection.

Shauny.....

Thanks for your interesting picture.

Unfortunately, I can't make "head nor tail" out of it, at all.

As per Blaine.....

We don't even know if that's what it really looked like.

Kind regards
Maybe...maybe not

Interesting indeed.
You say you went to the window. Does that mean this was taken through glass ? Not that it would discredit this partiucular photo, as it is much to clear.
Okay you answered that . Damn lag time.
I think the youngster from Ga. nailed it outright though.

Satelight.

Or an anomaly or maybe a phenomenen.
I just don't know.

What EXIF program are you using? I need one to see the original time date of my picture taken. Please
!

If I had to guess I'd say that whatever it was had been distorted to appear as diamonds, most likely a lens artifact. I don't believe that's the actual shape in the photo.

Another ATS member, depth0ffield, posted a youtube video demonstrating this effect.
