Iran says plan to send ship to Gaza still on

www.cnn.com

Tehran, Iran (CNN) -- Iran still plans to send ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, despite earlier reports to the contrary, a top official said Sunday.

Mohammad Reza Sheibani, the deputy foreign minister in charge of Arab affairs, denied reports that Iran had abandoned the idea because of threats from Israel.

"The program to send (humanitarian) aid ships to Gaza by people's organizations and NGOs is still on the agenda of the Islamic Republic," he told reporters, according to a report in the semi-official Mehr news agency.

Well I had read they were suspending these trips and flottillas to prevent conflict.

"The Zionist regime has sent a letter to the U.N. saying that the presence of Iranian and Lebanese ships in the Gaza area will be considered a declaration of war on that regime and it will react to it," he said, according to the news agency.

He added: "In order to deprive the Zionist regime of any excuse, the aid collected for the oppressed people of Gaza will be delivered to them by other means without mentioning the name of Iran."

This may be smarter, sending it in without the actual "help" of Iranian war ships or escorts to attempt to de-escalate the situation.

The government of Iran has some chip to play here there's no doubt. I wonder what their plans are moving forward; especially considering the troops that are being deployed along the boarder for what seems like an attack against Iran.

Thoughts?

I think that whenever somebody describes another nation like that I really don't view them as in the right of what they are doing. That goes for the US as well, as seldom they say the same thing Iran just said.

My own opinion is that I stopped caring. Palestine and Israel are democracies. Their people voted in war hawks. They got what they voted for and I could care less about what two racist governments of war are doing. Better to let two poisons kill themselves off than pick a side and drink it.

I guess Iran doesn't want to send aid ships while an armada of U.S. and Israeli warships are in the Red Sea area.

I was flipping channels earlier today and on Fox News there was that continuous strip of news info on the bottom of the screen. I read that Bedouins had attacked a supply caravan in the Sinai Pennisula that was headed for Gaza. It didn't mention where these supplies were coming from or who sent them.
