I've been doing some reminiscing lately, and managed to recall a few of the very first songs that I liked as a child. Thought it might be cool to have a thread for everyone to post their earliest musical memories, so here it is. Post the first song(s) you remember really liking as a kid; the songs that shaped your musical palate.

What I remember liking from radio airplay and MTV:

Stevie Wonder - I Just Called to Say I Love You

Harold Faltermeyer - Axel F

Herbie Hancock - Rockit

Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal

And a few I remember my parents playing from their record collection that I liked:

Queen - Another One Bites the Dust

Black Sabbath - Iron Man

Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water

Led Zeppelin- Whole Lotta Love

So, let's hear it. What are your musical roots?

When I was little I used to love Tom Petty, apparently

I'm pretty indifferent to him now

Great stuff! Especially The Eurythmics, that's one of the first songs I remember, too. Thanks for posting.

I like Tom Petty.

A couple more I remember my Mom playing:

The Beatles - Come Together

Lesley Gore - It's My Party

Eric Clapton - I Shot the Sheriff

Isley Brothers - Fight the Power!
