Skandi Rov 1 - Dispersant op - why are they spraying dispersants on the top and it looks to me that it is mixed with oil. And its not just a little, its a lot!!

The dispersant is the white stuff coming out of the three nozzles at the end of the long pipe.

Wow, the outflow is looking a little violent on Skandi ROV 1. I haven't watched for a few days, but I know about the procedures BP are doing. I hope all of that billowing is down to a good, strong current and not anything more serious.

Actually, a strong current might not be the best of things, but I know what I mean.

I haven't been viewing this for some time... so forgive my question - Are Skandi Rov I and Skandi Rov II pointed at the same leak?

I'm hoping the Skandi ROV 1 has just zoomed in...

That sure looks a lot worse than it was this morning, last time I looked.

Thanks a ton. Rov 1 looks so much more daunting than Rov 2!

FWIW, and might have already been posted, I think BP now has the best "view all live feed pages".

Here

I see that - right into the oil coming out the top, right? Making a big plume of oil and dispersant.

Yep.. BP loves to make the toxic oil even more toxic.. makes me sick seeing them use that stuff.

If you check the Oly ROV1 feed.. this is the first time I've seen the psi get over 2000.. about 2300psi!

Am I watching all alone? OlyRov1 sure has camera shake problems.. can't they keep it more sturdy than that.

Wow.. the psi is climbing! Now at 3000psi.. I thought they were going to do this slower.. almost half way there?

Some of you may know but some may not - those gauges only show pressure in hydraulic systems, not well pressure. Well pressure is monitored at the surface and is not visible anywhere via the ROV live feeds.

I'm confused.. I know of the hydraulic gauges on the ROVs.. but why would they be on this device and why up to 10,000psi?

Edit: So do they have a long wire going down to some sensors?

Looks like OlyRov2 is doing a ground survey!

Edit:... nope

The "Inlet" gauge.. which I don't think is hydraulic.. still says 3000psi.

Um, what I happened to the new "BOP"?

I watched it go on. Now it looks to be GONE?

My understanding (and I'm not an engineer) is that Olympic Challenger UHD is monitoring the hydraulic accumulator. UHD_31 is the one focused on the inlet gauge. [I assume UHD=underwater hydraulics]
en.wikipedia.org...

At a press conference this afternoon, BP (Sr. V.P. Kent Wells) said they would be monitoring well pressure via transducers that send the reading to the surface at 12sec intervals. The 12sec interval part was repeated on at least one of the evening news shows (ABC I think). You should be able to find a transcript of that press briefing online somewhere.
