Panetta: Iran has uranium for 2 bombs

CIA Director Leon Panetta said Sunday that Iran probably has enough low-enriched uranium for two nuclear weapons, but that it likely would take two years to build the bombs. Panetta told ABC television’s This Week that he is doubtful that recent UN penalties will put an end to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

'Genocidal' Israel will be put in its place - Chavez

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez described Israel on Saturday as a genocidal state that acted as an assassin for the United States, predicting the Middle East nation would one day be "put in its place."

The socialist Chavez is a harsh critic of both Israel and the United States and cut relations with Israel after accusing it of "holocaust" for its 2009 offensive in the Gaza Strip.

"It has become the assassin arm of the United States, no one can doubt it. It is a threat to all of us," Chavez said, during a visit by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Chavez said he supported a peaceful struggle for the return to Syria of the Golan Heights, captured by Israel in 1967. "The territory will one day return to the Syrian hands," Chavez said. "Of course we want it to be peaceful because we don't want more war."

"But one day the genocidal state of Israel will be put into its place, and let's hope that a really democratic state emerges there, with which we can share a path and ideas."

Slayer, I agree about Hugo Chavez and his ego. He is so full of himself that I wonder if he even needs to eat.

It seems like the leaders from the G8 are quite a bit more in the know about Israel's plans than the MSM feeds us. Whether they are all quietly supporting Israel or just simply giving them the nod to go ahead is another question.

Either way it should be interesting....

Thanks - I try to keep my threads quality in high level and keep those also alive as long as its neccessary. If main news changes totally, or just dries out - there should be seen whole history of the issue under it - not just talk about opinions about it.

I also use ATS as personal investigation source and archive for links, materials - from older threads is easy for me to pick up older sources, news and history to link up with recent days events. Also I just want to educate my fellow members with open personal archive and yes - somehow ATS is my public working place.

This is probably the most damning evidence yet that "something" is about to happen. Jet fuel has to be used within 6 months or so before it begins to degrade......and you dont purchase this quantity for it to sit.

See the worlds arms report from 1993.

Iran already has the bomb. It purchased nuclear components from the Soviet Union in 1991 - nuclear warheads that can be attached to artillery and long range missile.

Also, Iran shipped in Uranium from Argentina, back in 1993.

Just read the numerous international reports from the early 90s. Many Western nations fear a conflict in Iran because they believe the Iranians already have short range nuclear weapons.

Worse? Iran cannot successfully invade any nation because it is boxed in with US allies and the US itself. That is why they are upset.

But.. but.. but Iran has not started any wars in 300 years so why now.

if the usa/iserail atacks Iran then i hope they get a good kicking else it won't be long before they think they are unstopable and will try to push around europe.

Europe has it's own GPS system and the USA said it would shoot the satalights out the sky if we did not turn them off when told !

Two can play that game and the way the USA is going it will be wiped off the earth if it makes anymore enermies whilst trying to steel the worlds oil and then forcing the price up.

Hoping this is just a false alarm. Nonetheless I am going to mentally prepare myself for the loss of my loved ones, if that's even possible. These could be our last days on Earth; I advise everyone to spend as much time with family and friends as possible. This will go nuclear, there is no doubt about this. The only questions are: 1. when and 2. which countries will be able to annihilate each other first.

If Israle just ordered all of that fuel then something definitely is going to happen. My guess is a ground invasion of Lebanon.

They point out that according to Israel, it will not be in a position to launch a strike on Iran without using bases in Georgia and Azerbaijan due to the limited capabilities of its nuclear submarines stationed near the Iranian coast.

Seriously, does anyone check even basic facts any more before posting the latest in a long line of Israeli boogeyman stories, Israel doesn't have a single nuclear submarine in its fleet.

Israel isn't massing anything, anywhere, I don't believe a single word of this story.
