That's a good point Spartan, although fear of some future use of a product isn't enough to deter me from looking forward to a new technology that could greatly improve our lives.

Obviously we are more inclined to see the negative reprocussions of having such things among people, we have good reasons for it considering our current state of affairs.

And as far as availability and price go they did state that they would be VERY cheap, estimated costs run currently at about 350$ dollars.

It's safe to assume that once mass produced they might run lower than that, making it easy for everybody to have one.

Perhaps I'm too much of an optimist, but I see the potential in this device for great things, I'd rather nto contemplate the bad ones

I was just talking about this the other day with one of my peers. i've had this video for quite some time, on my comp it was 10 months ago, but it was transferred so the orginal date is lost, however they have been trying to get this to market for years now so it seems the people that finance these sorts of businesses do not approve of these getting into public hands. thanks

Fascinating technology.

It is mere window-dressing though, pretty curtains, on the outside, a flashy toy, that screams out "Look at me I'm special", over all.

I am a tech-junkie which is why I am so harsh on this right now, having had my cell phone shut off 8 or 9 months ago, I went through cell phone DT's and without an apartment, living in my car, I am reduced to payphones which are far and few between now due to the digital dilligence of dependence.

It is not that I instantly jump to the negative, because I do not, I see the over all design, and delve off into the pro's and con's of it with seeing how technology can both be a betterment and an enslavement.

As mentioned with my cell phone, people cannot get in contact with me except via e-mail, or ATS, Facebook, etc, but as well I feel relief to an extent.

I no longer have that digital dependence on the cell phone at a cost of $100 a month, and to you $350 might be cheap, but to me that's expensive.

A weeks worth of work at minimum, with some jobs I have worked, while other jobs I have made that in three days, considering I have never made above the tax bracket of $35,000 a year, the $350 is expensive to me.

I can't wait until they release the source code, so that I can program one myself.

Well certainly to some it's above their price, but the general population, hell.

How many tiems have you seen the people who live in mobile homes and drive escalades? I'm exagerating of course but you understand what I mean.

I myself don't have the luxury of being able to be cell phone free. I am dependant on communications as I work in communications.

I can see how this device would make my life far easier too, hell I could work from home full time with something like that. I could do that now, but at least I would not be confined to an office.

I haven't heard any pros from you yet Spartan

I like at the end she talks about brain implants. Once the brainchip drops.. it's done. It will be so engrossing to those who use it that it will soon sweep the globe. The mind boggles at the horrors capable of being committed when this occurs. The ultimate I/O interface , the brain chip will allow even more greater programming to flood the mind, to the point where we think thoughts that aren't our own.

Yup, that scares the crap out of me. I certainly NEVER want implants of any kind.

I'm ok with this though, seems like a happy medium. More good than harm would come out of something like this being widely available at low cost.

nice tech Very nice.but i think this is
more a case of a black budget project
going white.
this is how TPTB work its how we get most
super new advanced toys, just a by product
of a military app for the masses.

not that it is a bad thing. s & f.

Nope, this tech has been available since the 90's, this genuis university student just picked up where he left off.

This is one of those completely out of the blue, genius techs by some random nobody has heard of but will be the next Bill Gates or something.

This is an old repeat, but a cool technology still.

Basically, the world will become a canvas. My imposing a superficial and 100% editable layer of information(reality) over the real reality. The possibility for art with this thing will be endless. You will literally have the ability to put whatever "graffiti" you want everywhere.

Imagine being a construction worker and seeing on a HUD display where to place your next piece. Imagine how easy it will be to level something then!

You'll be connected to the internet, allowing you pull up all information known to man at any time.

Everyone will be like a walking calculator, say goodbye to math class!
In fact, I think when this technology becomes advanced enough, we can say goodbye to the traditional school system. It will be OBSOLETE!

Once this technology is small enough to be placed in our eyes, allowing for a personal HUD, and coupled with the technology here: www.wolframalpha.com...
humans will have taken to the next evolutionary step!

Wow you don't get out much do you? Why don't you overreact some? Go buy an imagination please. Yawn! This is old. For someone who doesn't get out much and has time on their hands you really ought to keep yourself more abreast of contemporary gadge and then your mind won't be so easily blown.

Next please.

sounds great...i would want to own stock in batteries though...just think, a medic needs life saving info and his batteries go dead. and what if people start doing this in their cars...not paying attention to where they are driving. the devil is in the details as they say

To begin with... I don't want to look as cool as Tom Cruise in Minority Report... but who cares about what I want and don't want.
First of all I agree with one of the poster who said we already have the 6th sense - I call it Syncretism, or the ability to reconcile the opposites.
Secondly, since it is my hobby to read esoteric books, I have the priviledge or misfortune of seeng this development as an attempt to hijack spiritual evolution and to emulate the achievement of buddhic knowledge (knowing without thinking).
And, thirdly, the dial digits projected on the person's palm in the video made me recollect something from my past. You see, before I sorted out my life, I used to be a heavy drinker. Once, when I was coming down after a couple of weeks of drinking, I had a hallucination (commonly known as a DT) where I used to use my palm as a mobile phone to communicate with people far away... I even was told in my hallucination it was called a Biomobile.
Thanks for the interesting topic and thank you to all the people who take their time to create a meaningful discussion.

Suppose it was only a matter of time before this tech came to be although it is out there in parts already.... looks pretty good... leaves you handsfree but still gotta walk around with a projector, phone and camera on you.... plus looks like we'll still be using plastic, oils and metals...

and like some said, there are more important things going on right now which should be dealt with first ..

so you dont think the military have not already
gone down a similar route and even perfected
there version of a device known to them by another
name?

this is old tech as many have stated but still cool.

in the military app think adaptive camouflage
as ONE of its many uses.

This is nothing more than a marketing tool that will invade our privacy.
This invention will work very well for the greedy corporations and tracking your spending habits. You all have no idea of the hundreds of thousands of database that will be set up into tracking and sorting out information on you.
Now the government really has a new spy tool to ease drop on you, and listen to your conversations and at the same time will be able to visually see whom you are talking to and they can record you with audio and listening devices.

This is definitely another tool into controlling the population this alone will make people very nervous when going on the internet. Believe me every website you go to including porn, blogs, News sources, shopping, gives the government and the corporations more information about you. This is not good.
The sheep don't have a clue.

Allways nice with a technology that thinks and makes decisions for you. It was very popular in an european country some 70 years ago. Now you could get a small gizmo that does the same for you...

No brain, no headache.....
