No, it is pretty easy now. So many stories of parents trying to do homework or projects with their kids and come across porn sites.

I was just doing a simple search for pictures of dinosaurs with my then 2y.o. and a porn site popped up. And no, it wasn't porn about old ladies.

Absolutely right on, but from the corporate stance its going to be easier to curb employee surfing, but all in all I agree its a smart move. work is work and play is work but in its place!

Am I the only one against porn haha?

We were talking about this on Chat and came to the conclusion that it would be harder to find due to being much easier to block if its the whole domain.

I even get porn pop-ups, can you believe that?

If you guys are getting porn pop-ups on websites not related to porn then your computer may be infected with adware as I browse the internet a LOT and do not have that problem.

Anyway, it seems most people in this discussion dont understand a lot about domain suffixes, this .xxx will just be a new choice to buy and will not affect any current websites. You will still be able to choose .com when registering a porn site. (in fact you can get .net or .org or whatever you want) Even when this suffix is available, very few sites will use it, .com dominates as it is the best for SEO (search engine optimization) even in the adult industry. Novelty domains like this one and .tv(and many others) do not really compete at all with .com. This story is really only relevant to webmasters and anyone else who registers a lot of domains, I can promise you .xxx will not catch on as a popular suffix even for porn sites.

agreed, this won't change that much as most porn sites will simply stay on .com domains.
on the other hand, i'm sure there will be a lot of people who will start registering .xxx domains for things other than porn...

people will never do something just because someone else intended them to

Actuay it could impact the industry if they decide to make it madatory for content. then it will be industry wide. as is with some current designations there are guidlines that apply.

I can only say this is a good thing.

Can't tell you how many times I've stumbled on porn sites while trying to go to a completely innocent site.

IE: I wanted to visit dicks sporting goods website. Want to guess what I attempted and found?

It didn't bother me much though. Nothing really graphic or disturbing yet.

ok you really think the porn sites will run to lock them self's behind cross bars XXX?
they will make it mandatory. and Make they Pay for it.
they are not doing this to make the web safe for kids.
safe for pedophiliac catholic priests maybe.
its all about the money.
