Wow, I just learned alot with image. Thanks for posting that. I wouldn't be surprised if they were to go deeper. As long as it fills their pockets.

Wow, sweet graphics, thanks for the education! It really brings some perspective to the situation. The deeper they drill the more oil there is available and the greed is what takes them down there so fast without proper safety measures in place. You know someone in the decision making had to have shown some reservation in deep water drilling...this deep. But they were probably outshined by the potential profits!

You want to know what scared me the most about all this as I began learning about what happens? Hearing that Halliburton was involved! If ever the PTB wanted to reduce the worlds population, I have no doubt they would contract Halliburton to get it done.

That's crazy deep, i wonder if there are deeper ones?

BP got around the offshore drilling status because it's been granted onshore status because it sits atop an artificial island built by BP.

I think its more of a case we kept on drilling because the computer you typed that on is not made out of wood....

Get that image of an oil baron greedily wringing his hands together as oil is pumped from the ground out of your head. Oil does more for society than fill the pockets of Earth-wrecking evil-doers.

A change of perspective could do some good.

Well done !!!...throughly educational pity we didnt have more stuff like this puts things in prospective..btw the brazilian oil deposit just recently announced is soooooo much deeper than any of the gulf of mexico deposits, cant beleive the lenghs they go to find oil God for bid if they got it producing oil and there was a major accident I dread to think what a mega distaster that would be

yet i learned this fact like a week ago

The image really puts it into perspective.

It seems hard to believe that oil could be found that far below the sea floor, given what we know about the stuff. It just seems a little odd, that's all.

Not entirely true. the Russians have done it - and deeper... BUT, On Land!

While you weren't paying attention the Russians have become a powerhouse in the drilling/petroleum industry - bigger than the Saudis, apparently.

The Deepwater Horizon was supposed to help keep U.S./BP up with the Jones', so to speak. Without understanding exactly all of the possible perils, we just kept going deeper... and, deeper.

I thought oil deposits where btween 7000ft and 14500ft

wait until you see what Liberty does 2.-4.5 miles horizontally with a limited response time if it kicks!....and BP built the little island out of crushed stone so when it blows all will go back into the ocean.... I guess BP will bring a rig in for that relief well..... BUT HEY you guys needed the oil...... and don't bother me about shoes and stuff i'll walk around barefoot with a loincloth.
