MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota nurses in an ongoing dispute over staffing and pension issues with 14 hospitals in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area plan to
file a formal strike notice.
The Minnesota Nurses Association said late Thursday that it will file the 10-day strike notice on Friday. The union must do that before beginning
an open-ended strike that nurses approved Monday.
The announcement comes a few weeks after about 12,000 nurses went on a one-day strike against the hospitals.
Ive seen this in the news a little bit recently, but now it's looking like the nurses are definantly going to go on strike for 10 days. Im not sure
how this will turn out.
Good thing its not in the middle of winter, considering how bad it gets up in Minnesota sometimes during the winter (I lived there for awhile). I dont
know how many nurses the Minneapolis/St. Paul area have all together, but 12,000 is a big number.
Hopefully everything turns out okay.
