I think it comes down to experience in the end. I consider it the mind because the mind is what the experience is based in, or out of. Mybe the dream is a way of self expression, or the dream is the individual aspect of the collective whole experience. It could be like when you meditate and focus on your heart, you seem to feel like you are in your heart.
