Walter Block explains why Ron Paul and Hitler are put on the right of the political spectrum.

You'll love this.

Walter is one of my favorite economists. He's also an entertaining speaker.

I know you'll want more after watching this, so here you go:
fascistsoup.com...

Watch the Tom Woods videos as well. He's another excellent speaker.

Whoa man...You can't JUST look at Ron Paul from his economics standpoint. There's the social spectrum that works on axis to the economic plane that classifies leaders.

Saying Hitler and Ron Paul belong together because of stated economic opinions is a bit misleading. I humbly suggest you retitle your thread, lest you be sensationalist.

After listening to him for less than a minute it seems as though whipped out the ego, lubricated it, and proceeded to stroke it.

LOL

WTF are you talking about?

Block is the most self-effacing economist I've ever seen in my life.

If you want ego, read Paul Krugman.

Way to make an inflammatory thread title. So because Ron Paul is on the right of the spectrum he's like Hitler eh? I suppose than so are the others he listed in the right column, Reagan, Matt and Trey from South Park, etc. You know this is just going to stir the ire of Ron Paul proponents right?

I think the reason Communism/Socialism is more popular than Nazism despite the body count is quite simple - most people in the Western world are educated repeatedly about the Nazis and the horrors they committed. WW2 is a big event but the Cold War is typically glanced over in history courses. Another reason is because, at least on paper, Communism looks good, the idea that everyone is equal and gets paid enough to live regardless of their occupation sounds good in theory - it just doesn't work out thanks to corruption and the seductiveness of power.

The whole overthrowing the proletariat thing appeals to the "rebels" out there which is why its typically Che Guevara on young people and not old people - they're more likely to be in that "fight the power" rebellious stage.

Nice job sensationalizing and providing an EXTREMELY misleading title. At the 6:30 mark he says that in the context that we, as in the media, put the bad guy Hitler on the political right, but put Ron Paul a 'good guy' in the same area of the spectrum.

I enjoy the videos of the Ludwig von Mises institutes, and they along with Ron Paul have the same economic views. Please change your title accordingly so as to prevent further confusion and unnecessary flaming.

Oh please, the title accurately describes his presentation.

It's so much fun for me to sit back and see who watched the video and who didn't based on the thread title.

I can tell immediately by the post content haha.

I smell a lazy troll. As per internet rules and regulation I am not allowed to engage the troll on grounds that he/she is only here to cause frustration and anger.

He's not saying Ron Paul and Hitler are alike, your thread title and OP is implying such though.

He was making a point about the fact that the left-right paradigm doesn't work correctly. I guess it works to attract readers to the post but how many do you think will watch the first 7 minutes of the video (which is where he clarifies his point) instead of just offering a knee jerk reaction?

The thread title never said Ron Paul and Hitler were alike.

It said they belong together.

Block explains how they fit on the political left-right spectrum, both on the right.

Of course, I will not go further as I don't want to give away the goods.

Oh, btw, I've watched the presentation several times, along with every other lecture Block has ever given.

Mr. Block clarifies after identifying the mainstream idea of the political spectrum that it is clearly inaccurate in determining who's on the left and who's on the right.

At the 9:30 mark he draws three lines that indicate economic freedom, personal freedom and war-peace spectrum. He then tells you that Stalin and Hitler are in reality on the same end of the spectrum in all three spectrums, even though the media will tell you they are on different sides.

Please watch the video instead of talking out your ***.

I'm glad you're taking the time to watch the video though.

Then you're saying that Ron Paul and Hitler belong in the same category even when they're philosophies were entirely different. Mr. Block is saying they shouldn't be considered on the same edge of the spectrum, so the only person here who's saying they belong together is you.

If this is simply a misunderstanding then I apologize, but your thread title nonetheless is very incensing, to anybody who doesn't take the time to view the video, or read the thread.

...i dont have a problem with the title of the thread - caught my attention and that was the point, right?... its marketing and i heard mark springer on the ats live show say that marketing techniques are perfectly acceptable and proper for ats (or something like that, lol)...

...about the speaker... for the first few minutes, i wanted to smack him right upside of his punkin head for his commie this and commie that crap - but - i hung in there for the whole deal (was painting a horse's butt while listening, how appropriate, lol)... he was interesting and comically warped...

...i dont agree with how he placed certain people on his little spectrum - gwb and his daddy should have been right beside hitler, along with truman and andrew jackson (the usofa genocide kings) - and - dont even get me started on mother theresa (i'd call her alien scum but i got no reason to piss off aliens, lol)...

...i'm not sure what point(s) he was trying to prove (cuz he's kinda ditzy) but i think maybe he was saying that labels mean whatever you want them to mean or whatever you've been programmed to believe they mean - its all hype (except, of course, for libertarians, lol)...

I apologize. I didn't read carefully what the original OP said and assumed you were implying that 'this, this and this, are reasons why Hitler and Ron Paul are similar.' I read it twice and didn't see that.

I still maintain that your choice of words is very poor. A thread title that accurately describes the video would be appreciative, instead of the sensationalist 'Hitler And Ron Paul Belong Together'.

Aren't the sensationalist titles for the Alien & UFO boards? Shouldn't there be at least a little bit of a higher journalistic standard around here?

...thats the funniest thing i've read on ats, lmao...

...this particular thread title is no more sensationalist than any of the others (not including alien/ufo or the "we're all gonna die in 2012" stuff)...

Yes it appears as a very weak post to put down ron Paul,at least he could of had some examples, his link makes him look like he didn't watch video

That is such a ludicrous comparison that I won't even bother to watch the video.
That's all I got for ya.
