South Korean and Japanese activists sent thousands of leaflets

via balloons towards the North Korean border on Wednesday.

They sent nine balloons and 540,000 leaflets, they originally wanted to send

100 balloons carrying a total of 6 million leaflets, but wind conditions weren't

favorable.

The leaflets have a statement on them condemning the

country's government for the sinking of a South Korean

warship earlier this year and also criticized North

Korea's late founding father Kim Il Sung for starting the Korean

War and blamed the current government led by his son, Kim

Jong Il, for a botched currency reform.

Activists regularly send the leaflets over the border on balloons

urging North Koreans to rise up against their government.
