Warning Signs on Beach: Breathing Problems from oil???

A few times this week, I have woken up because I smell something burning. Not taking chances of course, I get up, and check about my place just to make sure it's nothing, here. Today it was about 3:30 a.m., and I have been up ever since.

BP might be getting it out of the water, but now they are putting it into the air. Robbing Peter, to pay Paul, is how I see it.

Also, as I reported, I had bad nose bleeds a few weeks ago, after not having one for decades. I had to get my nose cauterized.

I live between Gulfport and Biloxi, and yes, you can smell the burning oil. Oddly enough, it seems to be the worst at night.

I do believe that when the body is struggling for oxygen it will start to shut down the blood flow to the appendages to keep the core organs sustained with what little oxygenated blood it can get to those most important parts, might wxplain the tingling in the arms.
I might have worded this wrong, but I recall learning this.

I hope others will post their experiences here. Seems that we would be hearing more of sicknesses if so many gases are escaping with the oil.

Maybe they burn more at night or maybe since earth cools quicker than water, prevailing winds come onshore more at night.

Oh. Hmm. I'm sure those signs are there just for insurance purposes. You know...just in case.

Well I am down in Southwest Florida. I have been feeling sick for a week and a half.. Started off with flu like systems and then a wierd rash shortness of breath chest pains ect.. I know of a few ppl feeling the same down here. I went to the ER but they sent me to a specialist.. I'm keeping my eyes open and staying alert because its just odd

This substance hydrogen sulphide- swamp gas, comes from drilling for oil. It smells like rotten eggs in 1 to 50- ppm of air, 50-100 ppm it smells stinky sweet and causes eye, nose and respiratory irritation, over 100 ppm, I think it said, the nose shuts down, and you can't smell it at all, of course this is when it builds up in the respiratory tract and you are knocked out, in a coma, or dead quite quickly.

edit- I am not trying to scare, and my #'s could be wrong since I just quoted them from memory of the vid, but seriously, if you live where you can smell this mess, you should at least me aware of this.

I live near Gulf Shores on Perdido bay, these symptoms are very real.
I have upper respiratory problems, allergies nothing big but I have had the burning, eyes, nose, mouth,throat. Also the sleepy feeling.
I just stay inside nothing else I can do. I sure can't leave.

“We have been receiving many calls with questions of water and air quality,” said Sheriff Mike Adkinson. “We have taken these concerns to the state agencies responsible for testing and providing the appropriate data and have been very frustrated. There are many conflicting reports and we have been unable to get clear answers.”
