Ok so let's take a little look at what the "do-nothing" Obama has been up to:

1. Significantly, he buried the Imperial Presidency of George Bush and restored the Constitutional balance of government by respecting the equal standing of the legislative branch of government. As a former constitutional law professor, this is a major matter of change of tone and style that he promised during the campaign, and he has delivered. (Not pretty or necessarily effective given the Reid-less leadership in the Senate, but we are a constitutional democracy.)

2. Passed and signed the stimulus package, the biggest piece of legislation--ever--in blinding speed, thus being able to start to stabilize the economy, with GDP now projected to grow at the rate of 3 percent by the end of the year. Check the comeback of your 401K since Obama has taken over.

3. Stabilized the top 20 banks without federalizing them.

4. Reduced the rate of foreclosures inherited from the Bush administration.

5. Signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act that makes it easier to sue for wage discrimination, a dramatic reversal of the bill's fortunes under Bush.

6. Granted regulatory power to the FDA to control tobacco products, another dramatic reversal of the Bush years that industry has lobbied hard to prevent.

7. Signed the Matthew Shepard Hate Act that expanded federal hate crime protection to categories of sexual orientation and gender, to the major consternation of the Religious Right.

8. Killed the F-22 fighter jet program, a popular program with Congress, saving billions of dollars.

9. With a stroke of a pen, enacted, by executive order, (see correction below in comments, it was a bill signing) the largest conservation measure in 15 years, spanning the Bush and Clinton records.

10. Implement an electronic medical record system before any healthcare legislation was introduced. This new technology will be singularly responsible for saving lives and reducing the high administrative costs of healthcare, a key element of reform.

11. Extended a $2500 tax credit to 5 million families to help with college tuition.

12. Cooperated with Japan in bringing a $5 billion stabilization package for Pakistan.

13. Engaged the Muslim world in a dialogue, beginning with his unprecedented speech in Cairo, followed by an interview with Al Arabiya, and face-to-face discussions with Iran, a total reversal of the Bush years of Muslim baiting and hate.

14. Dramatically reversed the reputation of the United States around the world, with now most nations looking favorably on the US, and receiving the Nobel Peace Prize as one consequence.

15. Agreed to plan for bringing the troops home from Iraq, at a slower pace than what he promised, but based on knowledge that commanders-in-chief, not candidates, have.

16. Brought the White House online, doing for the White House what he had done for political campaigning. There are now online Q&A's with the administration, and a White House blog.

17. Released the names of all visitors to the White House, a total reversal of the secret Bush years.

18. Told Mexico that the US is responsible for some of their drug problems, a no small, but truthful admission.

19. Restored the rights of states to regulate the medical use of marijuana without fear of federal law enforcement intrusion.

20. Banned the use of torture, and he has begun a complete review of the torture policies under Bush.

21. Appointed the first Latina to the Supremes: Imagine what would have happened to the Supreme Court under four more years of radical Republicans. Obama has thus averted a long-term dramatic swing to the extreme right on the court, and appointed a progressive to keep matters in check.

So, maybe he's not so useless after all.

Quoted for truth. One minute, he's being criticized for involving the government. The next minute, he's being criticized for NOT involving the government.

Its the same thing during the first year of his presidency. The right wing would scream "Where's the change, Obama?" while simultaneously opposing and voting down everything Obama supported.

Conservatives are looking for anything to grill Obama on, even if it means completely contradicting themselves.

Exactly, a few months ago there was a thread criticizing Obama because he left the White House without the press. They are going to jump on anything, and if there is nothing then they will make something up. At this point the conservative media is going with the strategy of repetition; if they say Obama is a bad president enough them their followers will believe it.

There was no way Obama could foresee this event happening. There is a strange mentality going on here though... Conservatives are wanting the government to help somebody other than themselves. This concept is foreign to me. I guess they have a marker that's used to redraw the line for government intervention. I need to get my hands on this marker.

To those who repeatedly keep bringing up the socialism issue, why don't you all just get with the program and realize that this is a socialism which is trying to keep capitalism afloat (bank bailouts, mortgage and housing bailouts, cash for clunkers, cash for this and cash for that..). Or is it a capitalism which is trying to keep socialism afloat?

Hell I don;t know, but if you think capitalism is so damn good, then why don't you let it fall to the ground on its own horrible merits (which it is trying to do if them socialists wouldn't keep it afloat).

What we need to do is stop the silly capitalism vs socialism argument and call it for what it REALLY is: A corporate oligarchy!

I completely agree with the "damned if you do Damned if you don't" statement, so I guess what he is doing to kinda sit in the middle of that is to NOT DO ANYTHING.....

13 countries offered to help with the cleanup, DUDE HE TOLD THEM NO THANKS!!!!! We got it covered............. WTF is he smoking?????

The OIL spill is just one of the crisis's he has been presented with among many other all mention here, to my calculation he has worse than failed on all of them, blaming BUSH and others does nothing to help his case, he ran with 'time for change" well he changed things alright, not only not made anything better he has in most cases made things worse.

He in my humble opinion is either a complete idiot or a genius at destroying the country from inside, and I am siding he is a genius!!

I don't think it's fair to blame Obama for all that's happened (or hasn't happened) since he became president, BUT I do feel it's fair to blame him for breaking some of his campaign promises and, overall, not living up to his potential as a US President.

If you're going to blame Obama for his handling of the gulf oil spill (and other stuff), I think you have to place just as much blame on big corporations, lobbyists, congressmen, senators, and everything else in Washington that prevents truly beneficial changes from taking place. The president is just one part of the overall equation. I get the impression that he's a very smart, capable President, and I like to believe he has mostly good intentions, but none of us really know if that's true.

I admit I voted for Obama in the Presidential Democratic primary. I regret voting for him and now wished I had voted for Kucinich. Unfortunately I didn't do much research until after the primary elections. I ended up voting for Nader at the end.

My overall point is this, don't blame Obama for everything. Truly beneficial change wont happen until ALL the broken parts of the system are brought to attention and replaced.

Thats Awsome!

1. Health care : Getting the government involved in transmitting my medical records and becoming a third party in a doctor patient relationship is an outstanding achievment! Who wouldn't want a politician knowing about problems with your fleshy bits.

2. Communications : The president has a blog. Wow, this is earth shattering. Obama now joins the entire world in making his very own website. Groundbreaking, yippee....

3. Transportation : Sweet! Temporary jobs on borrowed money! NOW WE'RE TALKIN'!

4. Education : a $2,500 government tax credit to offset the cost of rising tuition caused by relentless money creation rsulted from the US Government's student loan program. Good for people who are not smart enough to see the irony.

5. Cars : Nationalize the auto industry in order to prevent it from going bankrupt. Then it goes bankrupt, and has a 2 billion dollar bonus to develop a special battery. They can't even make sideview mirrors that don't fall apart, yet they are going to invent a "super-battery". K...

6. Pakistan : Bails out a foreign economy with money he got on loan. Looks like it's working out real well!

7. Cities : 2 billion for grants that fund "anti-gang" and "anti-gun" task forces. In other news, 8 dead among 52 shot across city over weekend Chicago..... who would've thought....

8. Engaging the Muslim World : You got that right! Sending 30k troops to Afgahnistan, bombing Pakistan, not leaving Iraq, every bit as engaging as President Bush was I'd say, bravo for the leader of hope and change....

9. Forests : Ah yes, I being from a state that relied heavily on the timber industry to fund it's schools and pay for it's social programs I can only stare with amazement at this. He single handedly managed to wreck half the timber industry and bankrupt state services with the stroke of his pen. Fantastic job Mr. President. Logging companies out of business, mills shutting down, schools shutting down early, and the enviornmentalists are claiming victory. Typical day in America.

10. Tone : Yes he is so calm, especially when he's looking for an "ass to kick".

Thanks for showing me these, I haven't laughed like that in a long time.

You people voted for him. Live with the consequences of your actions. Maybe in future you all will think before acting or voting.. You brought it upon yourselves. Time to grow up and be responsible for your actions.

In all of the postings I have seen in this thread, this one post to me is theonly true voice of reason.

Feel free to look back to the threads prior to the 2008 elections. Feel free to go back and look at what was said by so many people who actually took the time to stop listening to the words being spoken and researched the MAN who was doing the speaking.

No one can say you were not warned. You were warned and you choose not to listen. You choose to shot the messenger, you choose to toss around accusations and words like "right winger" or "left winger", and you choose to search for reasons why people would disagree with you rather than look at the evidence, which never lies.

Even the OP says, "I voted for him and I regret it"...well I have no sympathy for you. Many people pulled out his voting record, pulled out his views, showed it to you and said, "Look for yourself" and in return we were called "racist".

Now all you supporters who called us racist are now disappointed, and all you can say in defense of your own actions is, "Well Obama said he was gonna do...." and now you act shocked that a politician lied to you in order to get your vote.

There is an old saying... if you don't vote you have no right to complain. I disagree with that statement 110%.

If you voted for McCain, you have no right to complain now. If you voted for Obama, you have no right to complain now. The only people who have the right to complain are the ones who DID NOT vote. It is the people who DID NOT VOTE that refused to pick between the lesser of two evils because we already knew that by voting for the "lesser of two evils" you were still getting evil. Until a time comes when the system can be changed or people collectively stand up and say 'no more, our choices are not acceptable choices' we will continue to get more of the same crap we have been getting for decades.

The voters only have themselves to blame. You got what you deserved. Now grow up, accept the responsibility for the role you played in this situation and learn from it. Then help teach the others. Maybe one day we will finally get it right, if it is not already too late.

People who don't vote are just the same as people who don't give a crap and won't stand up to change the system.

At least Obama voters, as suckered as they were, wanted to change things to something they felt was better.

I wouldn't be as angry with Obama as the original poster, because although the president has power, he also has strings attached to him. The people pulling the strings are commonly referred to as advisors. Some we know about, some we don't. Who's advising the advisors? Everything going on is carefully coordinated to achieve the predicted outcome. The entire system is to blame. President Eisenhower warned us not to let the Military Industrial Complex creep into dictating American policy. I have to say ... that warning fell on deaf ears, or got silenced.

We need to audit campaign contributions to politicians, as well as their advisors. We need to find out who's getting paid what and by whom. We need to eliminate from office those who have a conflict of interest between their financial obligations and the obligations of the Constitution of the United States.

When most people watch this they just laugh it off, but it is true. Just like every thing George Carlin ever said was all True and we laughed at him.

Anyone got a problem with that can call the complaint line 202-456-1111.

That's the White House Comment line. Happy Complaining.

However it won't do you any good this corupt government has lost touch with we the people.

Since all power to govern comes from the consent of those to be governed I hearby remove my consent.

Interesting...

Obama’s actions prevent timely clean-up by U.S. allies Read more: dailycaller.com...

Crucial offers to help clean up BP’s oil spill “have come from Belgian, Dutch, and Norwegian firms that … possess some of the world’s most advanced oil skimming ships.” But the Obama administration wouldn’t accept the help, because doing so would require it to do something past presidents have routinely done: waive rules imposed by the Jones Act, a law backed by unions.
