Me too. I agree. (JK)

Obama, like every POTUS, is not perfect. There is not one POTUS in our history who has had an unimpeachable character, and not one who hasn't made mistakes, some of great magnitude. But with Obama we must have a certain sense of perspective a certain level and sense of proportion. He came into office with two immediate problems,

1. An economic crisis of monumental proportions and no knowledge of how to handle it, therefore requiring the advice of counselors who lead him and encouraged him to follow the path already laid down by W before he left office. Result: The stimulus was not perfect, and had serious flaws, but was the only thing at the time that seemed even nominally able to save us from devastation.

2. The entire Republican Party vowing to destroy him and thwart every policy he proposed. This means that nothing he did would gain any favor, and that the Republican corporate machine would spend vast amounts of money to produce propaganda which would, for all intents and purposes, destroy him. Take, for example, the Health Care bill. Republicans for decades had been supporting such a bill, and even proposed solutions very similar to those finally adopted in the bill which was signed. But Republicans decided to go against him anyway. Why? Many reasons, but that corporate money certainly helped, and the trillion-dollar Health and Pharmaceutical Industry pushed it over the top. You don't think that many of the people in those town hall meetings weren't plants or paid to do what they did? You don't think that many news editors were either bribed or were in collusion with the Republican/Corporate power base? Then you are, sadly, uninformed.

Is Obama the worst POTUS ever? Not even close. Hoover, Nixon, and W were far worse, did more damage, and that damage was long-lasting.

Obama has been in office less than two years, yet he has passed more legislation to help the people than W did his entire eight years. Obama is a sincere man, albeit deceived into thinking he is the one actually in control. The forces behind him are strong, but at least Obama is trying to do the right thing, and the things he believes will HELP the people, give relief, and make for a happier and more fulfilling life. Most Presidents are not respected during their time in office, and many are not truly loved until they are out of office. JFK was not a great POTUS, but after his murder he became a cult-hero. Carter presided over a great economic downturn following the fiasco that was Nixon and Ford, but is now considered a great statesman and wise mediator. Clinton was criticised as a filanderer (even though every POTUS has had at least one mistress, and Jefferson even fathered other children while in office!) but is not highly respected. My view is that the same would happen for Obama - if only the world wasn't going to end in 2012. Darn.

But if you want to say the USA hasn't had a true leader since Jany 2009 you are greatly mistaken. The USA hasn't had a true leader since Nov 22nd 1963 when the CIA in collusion with many others murdered JFK. Since that time every POTUS has been a mere figurehead, with the exception of Nixon who actually has connections to the assassination. (some could argue the same about Poppy Bush)

They can't fix this leak. It's beyond the scope of any invention. A national prayer day for Louisiana has been passed by law makers. The gulf is simply a container for crude oil. Our president is inept and ignorant. The msm is holding back the truth.... which will eventually have to come out to the entire country. They can't fix this and it may leak for many many years to come.

Well-played.

If you honestly think that Obama has much to do with what is happening in the gulf, then your head is far, far under the sand. He can only do damage-control at this point, and even then - his hands are somewhat tied.

It's interesting how the right were calling for more autonomy for the oil companies and now they're bellyaching about him not doing enough to manage them.

I've been looking for people who are critical of Obama's handling of the situation who also criticize Cheney's secret "Energy Task Force."

Gulf Oil Spill: Ties to Cheney and Acoustic Switch Not Installed

In secret meetings with the oil company officials in 2001, incoming Vice President Cheney set the foundation for a permissive, welcome mat with the oil industry.

After stocking the Federal government’s Material Management Service with his cronies, this agency reversed an earlier 2000 decision requiring a mandatory accusatorial regulator, allowing BP and others not to install a $500,000 acoustic switch to automatically shut down oil gushers.

So, the industry and Dick Cheney are responsible for the disaster, because they rolled back a requirement that would have prevented it just to save a few bucks. Yet some people want to blame Obama...even though they don't know exactly what they want him to do. Do they think FEMA has some kind of magical raygun that will close the wellhead? Do they want him to seize control of BP operations in the United States?

What would be amusing if this whole situation wasn't so tragic is how they lay the blame at Obama's feet...but say that you're wrong to be assigning blame if you point where it actually belongs.

Perhaps we could plug the wellhead with hypocrites...

So, the leak can't be fixed because it's "beyond the scope of any invention." So we have to resort to praying for miracles...

But the President is "inept and ignorant" because he can't fix it.

A perfect encapsulation of cognitive dissonance.

Well done.

NONE of them know what they are doing. NONE. And if they DO KNOW how to fix this and are purposefully sitting on their hands then they are no better than a common criminal. Interesting how Obama compared this atrocity to 9/11 to begin with.

Nixon was a "real dependable fella?"

Oh, wait - you're serious. Let me laugh even harder.

Nixon and his cronies pushed the Vietnamese to put off peace talks until after the 1968 election. An earlier peace settlement would have saved thousands of American lives, but at too high a price to Nixon - possible defeat in November 1968. Nixon and Kissinger were two despicable human beings and traitors.

How many times can we say this...FIX THE DAMN LEAK FIRST!! Then worry about who is to blame. How hard is that simple task???

While I agree with much of your frustration and feel that Obama should kick BP out and get others involved. I think your FIX THE DAMN LEAK, "how simple is that" is a ridculous statement. ITS DAMN HARD to fix this leak (if not impossible). That is why we should not be F*ckin with the earth in this manner in the first place.

Why don't you go fix the leak if the task is so simple - or tell them how?

I'm really facsinated that it has taken you people this long to realize that the man is a narcissistically driven fascist, with obviously messianic fantasies.

An old man told me one time that "Folks get the leader they deserve."

Well, you got him.

en.wikipedia.org...

More like 1837,

He's the commander and chief of our military.
If he brings military action the talk will be martial law.
If he brings global response it will be new world order.
If he brings Canada, US, and Mexico it will be North American Union.
If he goes after the international corp it will be socialist.
If he makes international corp solely responsible its capitalist pig.
If he lets the states handle it it's abandonment.
If he lets congress handle it it's partisan circle jerk 2 decades of talk.

Seems like maybe the only option would be to step the fack back and say,
NATION let's get at this and just see how many us citizens or wannabees converge enmasse and solve the problem.
That's IF they really want to stop the leak.
It seems to be providing some great options for some sick end time agendas.

There's a better chance of bringing Andrew Jackson back than of stopping this leak without an even greater fail.
I think the "WE'RE SCREWED BUTTON has been pushed hard.

Mr Sotoreo and the boys are way in over their collective heads.

so I didn't read all of the posts. so sue me. Wake up, oh your awake, good. It's obvious, keep the population dumb and under control and you can do what you like.

As Douglas Adams wrote. "The only job for the president is to not wheel power, but to draw attention away from it."

The president is not want you want, he's just some guy that has a big military that is at the beck and call to the highest corporate bidders.

But I agree Obama is useless. But I'd argue and win that Bush Jr. was a million times worse. Plus he puts the re- in retard.

I almost have to agree with this, against my better judgment. As much as I couldn't stand Ronnie during the 80's; I'll admit he had some massive cojones.

Take the whole one-party-state masquerading as a two-party-state out of the equation, and I'd prefer a President that's at least got effective foreign and domestic policies. There are plenty of people that can talk their way into a Nobel Prize. It takes more than talk to make a President effective. I've always believed Reagan knew that clever temperance that is the area between talk and action (no matter how much he scared the hell out of all of us).

Wow, I hate politics. Who had that idea about dropping the monkey out of the plane and the first person the monkey held hands with would get the office? Let's do that and see what happens.

I don't see why this is hard to understand

obama cleaning up the oil spill=his administration using tax payer dollars to clean up a corporation's mess

yeah, I'm pretty okay with him "shaking down" BP rather than making the US foot the bill anymore than it has to.

/oh no he did something reasonable, right wing panic mode

But still, the bottom line is that you don't actually know what's going on. You can speculate and draw conclusions until you're blue in the face, and you still won't know for sure.

But go ahead and speculate, draw conclusions, and vent if it makes you feel better about the chaos we live in.

Not knowing what's going on is driving you crazy. But the world IS crazy so just drop the fear and enjoy the insane movie called life that you're part of. The only other choice is fear. Up to you.

Although I voted for President Bush twice, I feel like he was a little moderate in some ways and thinking back, I suppose you have to be in his position. so that things can get done in Washington.

Contrary to what many people said about President Bush, he was a far better leader than Obama can only dream about. While many Democrats in Congress were against his policies, he did encourage them to support his agenda and pass some contrversial laws. Obama didn't even convince one Republican to support his healthcare and he's still not convincing none of them on anything else.

President Bush took a lot of flak from the left and never once did I hear him cry like Obama has been doing, especially in the last month, over whose to blame for the gulf oil leak and the on going joblessness that the United States in currently experiencing.

In reality, Obama is what this nation needs in this leadership position so the Amererican people can remember all the lies and broken promises that spewed from his lips during his campaign. Then, and only then, Americans will be able to discern a quality candidate who loves our nation from a candidate that says what the people want to hear and in the end they're just empty words for the sake of self glorification.

BTW, star for you and several others in this thread especially the OP.

Professor, he's just doing what he's been instructed to do. I stand firm in my conviction that he was NOT elected, but rather SELECTED by the world's elite. Both he and Hillary were in attendance at the Bilderberg conference in Chantilly, VA back in 2008. The supposed election in November was just a formality.

Obama has been groomed for this position most of his life. He knows how to take orders from the elite. They capitalized on his "rise to power" and used this popularity as the vehicle with which to drive their agenda...quickly.

Look what happens when he strays from his talking points or teleprompters....can you say damage control!

We should be asking why the world's elites don't want this cleaned up. Why do the elites want our border compromised?

Wait, last time I checked, didn't just about every single thing a president wants to do have to go through Congress, get votes, etc, etc. before anything even got considered into moving action??????

So, remember, our (Americans for all you "im not american!!!!" folks) U.S. President is simply a FACE...

and like in High School... no one asked for a paticular kind of face... you got what you worked for... and you were stuck with it. No prom date? Your fault. No friends? You aimed for it. Ugliest kid in school? You worked for it.

None of this is Obama's fault. Everyone who voted for him asked for it. And guess what, their votes just happened to outvote all other alternatives. Isn't that what America wants? Power to the people?

You don't like it now, you might as well move to a different country. Because this oil spill... is just the beginning of it.

Oh and for those who want a resolve... the people... still have the power. Learn to use it, as a whole, not as separated hypocrites.

This is not an angery post but i would like to remind everyone about all this Obama hate. Anyone bashing Obama now is basically doing so in hind sight which is always 20\20... I remember 2 years ago everyone ranting and raving about how President Obama was going to change the entire world...his slogan something along the lines of world change now...And EVERYONE loved it and fell for it...you all voted for him cause if anyone remembers he was up against John Macain? Most of you truely believed that 1 man would be able to change the entire worlds opion of us. Which was Foolish from day 1. Most of the world from children to adults burns the american to show how much they hate us...We actually at one point thought Obama would change this in 4 years....well im sorry but the entire worlds hates America is it's bred so deep in the children minds that we will never be not hated...Blaming Obama is stupid, we voted him in, we beleived in him and we supported him...now we place all the blame squarley on him and him alone?? We are all to blame..we all fell for his lies...even though we deep down knew they where lies from day 1.

We are literally witnessing the last screw fall out of the engine that was once America.

I feel as if I am passing by a bad accident and I'm trying not to look. I try to avoid the news laterly because it's too painful to watch our country fall apart and feel helpless to do anything about it.

Obama does not like America. He is slowly ripping away the foundation of this country and by the end of his term, we will be standing amidst the rubble of what was once the greatest experiment on earth----democracy.

I can proudly state that I didn't vote for the man. I could see behind the facade------he seemed like a used car salesman to me-----selling his Harvard education (have you ever really looked into his past? It's scary), and his speaking skills. But there has never been anyone there. There's no "there" there.

I was in Paris the night of the election and millions of people took to the streets, screaming and shouting and celebrating his election, as if it were there own President they were voting for. I walked around dazed and when asked by the French if I had voted for him, I was treated with disdain when I admitted I did not.

Guess I have the last laugh.

Too bad this isn't a joke.

It's a travesty.
