... this invention is as smart as shoving razor blades up there. Stupid.

speaking of ...
women in Vietnam use to do just that
during the Vietnam War to prevent
US Soldiers from raping rural women
in the jungle.

It's also been known to happen in Africa
as well. However this method has many
times hurt the female much worse than
the male. Dislodging of the blades would
sometimes render the woman unable to
bear children. And some would bleed to
death.

just think
condoms have been known to break.
Just think what consequences it would
have on a woman if this were to happen
using this new device. She may not ever
be normal down there again. And unable
to bear children. Will women in general risk
these type things just to use this device??

I guess we will see.

The mental images conjured up by the headline are too much. I cannot read the article now.

4th...even if the rapist gets one of these on, it's not made of steel. at some point he will be able to remove it or cut it off. Now since rape isn't about sex, but control or violence...what state of mind do you think mr rapist is going to be in after that?

It's always stated in these kinds of threads that rape is not about sex, but power and control. Is this a misconception? If somebody wanted to show power and dominance over another, wouldn't the act of bashing them up be more likely and easier to do? When men want to show power and dominance over other men, do they usually rape them?

I swear I heard about this or a simular invention years back. If I were home I could find out and post a link. I swear this sounds familiar though.

it's not just physical dominance but mental as well (this is why armies use rape to demoralise local populations) men rape rape quite often it just isn't to the level of men to women or reported as much. rape takes away much more than just being beaten

We must be screwed up pretty bad as humans when we are forced to devote part of technology and intelligence to creating anti-rape condoms.

When will we advance to a stage above rape, where women will no longer have to live in fear?

Peace.

even though it's a long way away..

Did you know that a significant amount of rapes are commited by previously convicted offenders? I think theres a better answer than anti rape condoms. I think that when a person is covicted of serial rape, he ought to have a steel rod inserted into the shaft of his member, and that rod ought to be attatched to the mains. If he dies, who cares, some scum just shuffled off the mortal coil. If he lives, he cant possibly do it again, because all the nerve endings in his man bits will be burned out and utterly beyond effective repair.
The onus should NOT be on potential victims to protect themselves. It ought to be on the rapist, not to rape. If he cannot develope restraint and excersize it, I say burn his bits.

This product has been out for years and they are searching for companies to help bring it to the USA and Canada now.

I think every woman who wants to have this product should be able to purchase them at their local store. It does protect from diseases if raped and will capture the offender so much faster. Pure proof basically and if it hurts the person raping someone then so be it. Rape victims commit suicide alot and go through such horrible things after in their lives.

If there are no crimes done then no-one gets hurt, do they? It is a great idea to sell in the USA and or Canada just to make those who offend wake up to what they are doing or else. I read there is enough pain so that the victim does have time to get out. The person offending must get out as they cannot handle the pain and need it removed as soon as possible. This product works in many ways and was introduced for the women in wartime Africa to protect themselves with.

The chances of a female using it to hurt someone on purpose is very very low.

was a study conducted to determine if further violence were perpetrated on victims apart from rape when the device was used and activated?

if there are none, cld it be that these rape victims who cld have been rape survivors ended up as dead rape victims?

I think its a bit unrealistic to think women are so vindictive as to misuse this contraption and I choose the word contraption.

But how to do you plan for it. It's not like insurance....

Still a good idea for countries as screwed up as SA. I'd like to see a metal version in the next 'SAW' movie!!!

Men who rape women are cowards.
I doubt very much if a rapist would even tell anyone how he got caught in an anti-rape trap.
For one, it's part of the proof that the rape happened and also seeing as they are into power, I'm sure they wouldn't want to advertise the fact that they were disempowered by not only the contraption but also their intended victim.
It's unfortunate that it's come to this but appears lobbying the government about the biggest crime in the country - rape- has fallen on deaf ears.
So I think it's only obvious that women will find ways of empowering themselves and will use whatever is cheap and available.
I can see this being of particular to use to very young girls who are the most vulnerable.

A vaginus dentata of sorts.

--------------------------------------

But just like this implement ....... it can be triggered by something other than a delicate `member`. May lead to more brutal rapes .

Its so twisted that women have been reduced to having to booby trap their vaginas , to protect themselves from these fiends .

I don't think this is one size fits all, it seems with some rapist this would be a sort of stumbling block, when push comes to shove.
Hey what's going on, as the this thing is just pushed futher along, as in ram rod.

I was just thinking (terrible), but all rapist don't go for the proper rape portal, and this could cause a trend in rapes.
As to like better safe than sorry, or any port in a storm.

Its really sad that it has come to this, anti rape devices. I think its quite a good idea tho.

Especially in South Africa where rape is a real big problem. I also think that they should up the penalty of rape to chopping said rapists peniage off
that could deter rapists.

It says in the artical that the culprit finds it hard to walk after the antirape condom being inflicted on him, so thats a good time for the woman to get away/beat the living bejebus outta him when he cant get away,
if it were me he would not only need a doctor to remove the antirape condom but he would also need a doctor to remove my shoe heel from his eyesocket.

Yeah its a good idea for women living in areas with high rape stats, or even if it makes a woman in any area feel more secure when walking to a shop after dark etc.

As for women using them as revenge on ex boyfirends or cheating hubbys well thats just a crime and I doubt because the woman has the capability that she would willingly do so, i mean everyione has knifes in their kitchen but not many people use them to stab others with.

I knew I had heard of such a thing before.
Seems this type of technology has been out for some time. It does not seem to be that effective after all. If it were effective, it would not be seen as new technology five years after it was first introduced.

The sad thing is as has been mentioned in this thread and the others listed is that this can be abused as with anything else. You know the saying about a woman scorned.

I have known many women vindictive enough to do this. How many women each year accuse men of raping them for revenge? You'd be surprised! It's a damned shame too, because all they achieve (if the guy is found innocent) is that women who are really raped often have less credibility. It's the "Boy who cried wolf" syndrome.

I am not proud of myself for agreeing with you but for the most part, I do.

There is a procedure (like a vasectomy) that would fix the problem.

If a mans libido is a hazard to himself or others he should be offered either a drug to control it (along with monitored use) like any other disease or the option to be chemically castrated.
This isn't a problem of morals or breeding or guidance or the lack of any of these among men. It is a problem of overwhelming and uncontrollable sexually deviate urges both natural and unnatural boiling over.
Rapist often feel tremendous remorse. Not all certainly but enough that they have largely gotten slaps on the wrist up until recently. As if ruined women's lives and trauma are worth nothing...but that is another thread.
Chemical castration is not nearly as painful or dramatic as it sounds.
Men just HATE the sound of it for anyone, regardless of crime so it is not popular yet but I think eventually we will have no choice but resort to it.
There is not enough room in the jails.
If minimal violence is involved (and a problem with rape is that it spans a range of severity- so re:punishment, one size does not fit all) I think it should be offered as an option to some men.
It may sound hideous and awful but it is the only humane thing to offer men who may otherwise spend their lives in jail.
