OK.

First, they submit application. The application will take years to get approved due to various reasons. Then once they get their card, they must wait 5 years in order to apply for citizenship.

Of course, many choose not to go for citizenship.

No offense my friend, but I posted a quote from the US Citizenship website saying it takes anywhere from 4/5 months to over 2 years to become a full citizen.

You can't reply with "It will take longer due to various reasons." And as someone above said, it is not only targetting the illegal immigrants.

Why are ballots printed in Spanish then? You have to be a citizen to vote. You have to learn English to become a citizen. So if you need a ballot in Spanish, you are an illegal perpetrating voter fraud.

I do believe English speaking folks have problems with ballots as well. For some reason, Florida comes to mind.

Seriously, the amount of English needed to pass citizenship is a joke. One page reading, one page writing, and memorize 100 questions.

As for the Spanish ballot, that is due to voting right, Civil rights and all that Justice Department jargon.

Have it your way. What you are reading is time it takes once you apply for citizenship.

I have worked with many people on this issue and the time is 5 years. Then add the time it takes to go through the citizenship process.

You May Qualify for Naturalization if:

* You have been a permanent resident for at least 5 years and meet all other eligibility requirements. See the “General Path to Naturalization” link under “Citizenship by Naturalization” to the left.

Pause for a moment and look at your very first point.

Latinos don't have a good record of showing up?

That just reinforces the postulation that this will motivate them
to be more active for whoever gets their agenda through.

That is an assumption you are making. Based on that assumption you would have to make another assumption that majority of Latino's are in favor of this.

A lot of assumptions.

IMO, economy thumps this issue big time. Dems will get majority of Latino's votes with or without this issue.

If true it is one of the creepiest things ive heard. Now could this be the road to the NAU? If Obama is using our unsecured borders to get amnesty. Amnesty which would give us, in effect , open borders . Which would integrate Mexico into the U.S./Canada relationship and BAM! what u would have is a post WWII Europe kinda thing that would ,in no time im sure, turn into a EU kinda thing. Or maybe im just letting my imagination run a lil bit wild . either way i want to see Obama confronted with this.

...weigh the cost of deportation v/s the cost of granting amnesty and you might see why amnesty is preferred by those who control the purse strings... theres absolutely no monetary gain possible from deportation - only expense... amnesty offers the potential of future monetary gains via income tax...

That's all I was asking for, just something better than "various reasons".

Still, we've skirted the issue completely and gotten off topic. The voting reasons for amnesty are a different thread altogether. If Obama did say this to the senator, that's a problem. If not, then the senator being a liar is a problem.

IF he said this then he is using his office to aid millions in commiting felonies.

IF he said this he is guilty of manslaughter every time one of those Mexicans kills another on our soil.

IF he said this he is blackmailing our entire nation.

IF he said this.

Amnesty has failed several times. If we take a clue from the half ass handling of the oil spill, the lackluster jobs creation and the excessive spending of the current administration, I would wager that it would be another botched job. There is just too much politics involved today for beneficial legislation anymore from either party.

I really don't care about the influx of Latinos just the fact that they get away with breaking the law. PERIOD!

Yup, nothing more sincere then second hand information from an oppossing party.

That was my first thought. I'll be really curious to see Obama's response to this accusation. I think Mr. Kyle read into something Obama said, but we'll see. I can't see Obama revealing a tidbit this "newsworthy" to an opposing Senator or seemingly trying to make some sort of "deal".

I don't trust Republicans these days. ESPECIALLY when they're talking about Obama. They have a solid history of lying, exaggerating and making stuff up to get in Obama's way and I don't trust anything they say. I want to see Obama's exact words before I believe this.

YES, BUT WE DO NOT GO TO MEXICO AND DO THEM. NOW YOU KNOW.

I'm continually amazed that people use this kind of "logic" to try to make a point. The "well, if they do it we should be able to do it" mindset. Conversely, "if we don't do it, they shouldn't do it". I ofter hear it used to justify people's positions on issues. How many people who support torture say, "Well, at least we don't chop their heads off"! As if that's a big mark in our favor.

No, we don't go to Mexico and commit crimes, we do it right here in our own country. We crap in our own country and that's OK, as long as the neighbors don't come and crap in our country.

US citizens commit crimes here, too. What makes immigrants' crimes worse?

The current debate over illegal immigration is no different. The most used term of derision has been “criminal,” portraying all illegal immigrants as bloodthirsty killers and rapists. Who wouldn’t want to round up and deport criminals?

The fact is, illegal immigrants don’t commit crimes at a greater rate than any other impoverished subgroup. It’s poverty that spurs crime, not immigration status.

Source

Anyway, I can't see Obama wielding federal power like this in some sort of attempt to get back at Arizona. I'm going to have to hear what Obama actually said. I'm not going to believe Kyle's twist on it.

This is impeachable as a dereliction of duty.

Besides the Senator saying Obama said this and that, where's the proof?

I'm sorry man, I understand your point but don't buy it. No, their crime isn't better or worse than our crime, but it is MORE crime.

What if every time there was a murder, the police just said "Well other people murder, too!"

I dont think anyone argued that immigrants crimes are worse.

HOWEVER, you cannot deny that those sneaking across the border commit more crimes than others.

Come on! The article you linked to does not cite any statistics, studies, or PROOF.

It is simply an editorial article penned by someone who agrees with you.

The issues that stinks about this congressman's pov on saying Obama is blackmailing, or wants something in return...., Congress is more than able to impeach Obama. If the executive branch is not doing their job and filling their role, congress can fire them. So, congress would be just as guilty as Obama in not securing the border.

Also, while they are not securing the border, they enforce the patriot act to restrict America's rights because terrorists want to come into the country and blow you up. It's all a joke, and everyone of you should feel ashamed that you are spending your time on a joke. This is all smoke and mirrors.

Because most Immigrants coming from the borders are actually poor people with very limited education, this nothing but importing poverty into an already burden nation.

While many work they are menial work with wages below national averages, so if you see that our nations biggest job sector is services and people that works in this type of jobs still depend on welfare, Medicaid and food stamps, just add 13 million more of the same to the system with amnesty

Now when Obama made Medicaid to become the insurer for the poor about 40 million to qualify under the HCR just imagine 13 more also on Medicaid that is pay by the tax payer.

I am neither supporting nor denying that. And if you're supporting it, how about some of the proof you demand from me?

Fact is, there are no statistics on illegal immigrant crime vs citizen crime. Neither opinion can be proven at this time.

They want amnesty for illegal immigrants so they can secure more votes in the 2012 election.

:shk:

Don't you know that even if they gave them some of permission to stay, they wouldn't be able to vote. One has to be a US citizen in order to that. And that process itself takes time.

Want to bet on illegals not being able to vote.

They do it all the time in Calif.
