Who would you include in your coalition?

Here would be my coalition.

- Democratic socialists
- Social democrats
- Eco-socialists
- Secularists
- Protectionists/Isolationists
- Social progressives
- Libertarian socialists
- Reformists
- Civil libertarians
- Minorities(Particularly Muslims and Blacks)

So who would you include in your coalition?

Hard to decide for me.

How about a Libertarian Liberal?

How about just a hippy?

That's funny! If I was forming a political coalition, this is exactly who I would want to be my opposition.

Yet you still can't seem to form any coalition other than just saying, your coalition will be my opposition.

I would not, coalition is just another word for political party and they are all bad.

We need independants, a large group of them who vote for the people they represent, not with their buddies or the companies that pay them, but for and with the people THEY represent.

This thread is about your coalition of choice. Why don't people answer the question?

You answered the question partially, but I was only looking for who would you like in your coalition not criticizing it.

As long as he was not on drugs, it would be fine with me.

I bet he could get more right than the people in power now.

If it is about choice then certainly the choice to not belong to any coalition at all would be one of those choices...if this thread is truly about choice. If the answer involves a choice, and that choice is personal preference, then there are no wrong answers. You opened the thread up to criticism the moment you asked the question, and I agree with the poster you took to task. Political coalitions are not the answer, they are the problem. If they are the problem, then the answer is more than likely in abandoning political coalitions, not forming them.

I think I'd like at least a few hard-drinking Russians in the coalition.

Whatever else you may say about that constituency, they have much to teach the rest of the world about surviving and staying happy when things take a turn for the worse.

Also it is my earnest belief that civil libertarians seem to mesh better with social conservatives on many aspects.

It sounds like you already have a great, inclusive platform.

Excellent work, and I agree, civil libertarians and conservatives have more in common than first meets the eye.

These two, especially, will do much to protect privacy and civil liberties, and act out the concept of democracy by working together for a few simple principles that will ease the tangle of government intrusion into our lives.

It won't be based on religion or religious dogma, but on Constitutional principles, which are for all people and are right no matter what religion or party one may be affiliated with.

In this, Americans can and should stand together. We are all we have at this point, after all.

I was asking you to form your own coalition of who you think would make a good coalition in your opinion.

It doesn't matter who's in mine. A coalition is meant to bring together and cooperate different viewpoints that have a relatively similar goal and set of principles. That is why Conservatives would NEVER work, neither would Liberals.

How about an ATS party? The various factions would include the hard-headed realpolitk and finance crew, the mystics and new-agers, the religious fundamentalists, scientists, survivalists, etc.

I predict the party would rise to a creshendo of popularity and sweep elections at all levels from local to national. Then the various factions would turn upon each other, like the Bolsheviks versus the Mensheviks after the Russian Revolution, or the Reign of Terror in the wake of the French Revolution.

So who would you include in your coalition?

firefighters. just firefighters.

if they failed ....

i would resort to forcing all convicted pyromaniacs and arsonists and all remaining firefighters to mate with eachother, steal their children, and put them on one planet and cut them off from all known and unknown forms of communications and learn from them all i can ...

i might give them three legos to play with and make what[ever they wanted to make from them....

i'd call these three things protons, neutrons, and electrons ....

and wouldn't talk to that planet again until those souls could make at least 5 senses using only 3 little things...

whatever survived all that would be my political party.

fire fighters cannot forget & will always remember
what earth did to us on the eleventh of september

yep yep,

Political coalitions by definition require the groups contained within it to sacrifice their beliefs for the benefit of the collective ideals of the coalition. In doing so, they cease to be what they once were, hence my opinion that what is wrong with our current form of politics is the politician which creates opinionless entities who are worthy of no trust.

Not a bad idea at all.
