BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) - A 77-year-old Roman Catholic priest in Argentina has published his memoirs recounting sex with women and a frustrated gay liaison, angering Church officials.

If you read the excerpts of the book in the full article, it sounds like a cheesy romance book.

I think this guy is trying to make money on the book, rather than confess.

The book really could be a bit of both, there has been a lot of very odd repressed sexual stuff going on in the Church lately, but there is also a big market out there for tell-all books.

My guess would be that the guy took some experences he's had and ran with them, kind of the way a fish story develops.

I would read it with a very skeptical eye, but not just dismiss it outright. My feeling is that he's just trying to cash in.

Elsewhere in the book he wrote how he tried to have sex with "Antonio" but "our mutual inhibitions conquered our momentary permissiveness and openness."

He's probably helping other priests overcome their celebacy. Discovering sex for the first time at an old age after years of celibacy, it seems that his sexual thoughts were overwhelming him. So he wrote a book. Nowhere in the article does it say that the book is a form of confession.

After reading the article it's more like the concept of sex from the perspective of a priest. This he because he has sex with women, but he also wanted to experiment with men. It just shows that bisexualism isn't just restricted to the porn business.

As a Catholic, I certainly hope this "priest's" bishop takes immediate steps to remove him from the priesthood. He is a scandal to the Church and certainly will cause souls to be eternally lost.

I don't know if I agree with your post, regardless of how this preist treated the issue, this is something that needs to be brought out. How many situations like what happened in Boston are there out there that the Church is covering up?

Honestly I believe that for the "souls" to stop leaving the Church they must come clean and make some changes, like letting preists wed, to prevent the things like are in this book from happening.

I agree there needs to be many changes made in the Church. I strongly believe priests should be allowed to marry. If they were I'd probably enter the seminary. What I take exception to is this "priests" manner of bringing things forward. I have read excerpts of his book and think it's nothing but sleazy trash. As such, all it does is pour gasoline on the fire already damaging the Church. There certainly is a way to make ones point heard and in 77 years, this jerk hasn't figured it out. Trash like his simply keeps the spotlight focused on misdeeds of the clergy rather than on addressing the real issues we both recognize.

Yes, you are probably right about this guy, and it does obscure the actual problems. My bet is that he gets excomunicated faster than you can say Roman Catholic. The thing that I hope does not happen though is that some group finds this guy and starts touting him as being silenced or censored by the Chruch.

What we could really use is some preist or higher offical to offer some solutions, lets get an cardinal to go pen a book offering some ideas about how to fix the Chruch's problems, now I'd buy that!

I went on a "Catholic Revival" kick recently & went to the Confessional. The priest kept wanting to hear if I had any more sexual stuff to talk about. In fact, all he wanted to hear was sexual stuff. He suggested that I come back at the same time next week just in case there was any more sexual sins I had committed but forgot to tell him about. Now, I'm not Heidi Fleiss over here with 2 billion sexual sins to confess. Maybe he was just genuinely concerned for my immortal soul, but--it just seemed like he was way too interested in talking about this stuff. That little intuitive meter inside of me just sorta went:

Well, you all should remember that this only applies for the Catholic church. You can't forget the protestant branch of christianity.

Catholic church makes it a sin to have normal sex within marriage, and then in some seminaries encourages "chattage" and other things to make priests use alternative methods of releasing sexual tension etc.

no where does it says in the bible that men of god cant marry. Thats the root cause of the sex scandel in the church, the priests become perverts and the church allows it. not just little kids are used for sex, nuns and women of all ages. its a joke. these people say they stand for God but they are involved in this level of sexual sin?? What? God doesnt see it?

What exactly do you mean by this statement? It doesn't make sense.

Do you have some sort of proof to support this?

As a Catholic I really don't buy either of these assertions.

Well, I suppose he should be kicked out of the church if he doesn't represent it...but ya put in harshly

The only differance between the catholic church problems and WACO is the dividians had guns otherwise the ATF would have stormed the Churches and seized all of the records before they could be alterd or destroyed. This is a organized crime and only the tip of the iceberg has been exposed. With the churches record of moving offenders around just imagin how many are saving children in Bangladesh I suppose if you are being fed you wont mind performing for the preist. And what ever happend to the nun abuse that has gone on for centuries also. There must be no more protection for these crimes by any church or organization. Any religon and their followers that do not demand the same are just as guilty as those commiting the crimes.

Very interesting...ofcourse the staunch catholics won't agree...obviously if you "insult" anyone's beliefs they lash back. They don't want to admit they made the wrong choice. Now, I am not saying being Catholic is wrong, and their basic principals are the principals of life. This is a conspiracy board and I would have to lean towards it. They have much power, and the tip of the iceburg is emerging. I am not saying every catholic is involved. That would be to dangerous and would have surfaced already.

I agree, sounds a little weird. In defence of the preist though, maybe he perceived a reluctance or hesistation and just wanted to be sure everything was confessed and therefore, and most importantly, forgiven. If there is something still troubling you, simply go to confession at another church. Good luck and god bless you.

Free love for all, baby. Thats the way it should be, how do you expect a priest to love everyone, but not engage in sex. I mean if Catholic church really believes in no sex for priests, they should make castration mandatory. That seems like the thing to do. THey are just toying with their most basic instincts.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what the priests did is right, just that it the sexual repression should be expected to surface in one way or another.
