There's a less hysterical account over here. Seems like he fell and banged his head on the door. No signs of forced entry or theft. If he was naked, it suggests the possibility of having had a bath or shower and slipping on wet feet.

A wild assassination plot is more interesting than 'wet man slips, bangs head and dies.' Maybe more news will be out later in the week?

Yup its quite normal for a grown up man to crush his skull after takin a shower... lots of men die from that cause around here... Be aware of the dangers showering brings you...

Just because of the fact that there was no forced entry still makes it very farfetched for a man to crush his skull that easily...
Havent we, at ATS, heard lots of suicide cases where the suicider shot himself in the back of the head twice?
Come one people... when a nuclear scientist like this dies under "suspicious" circumstance, is it really wise to just write it off as an accident? I think not... Unless its been proven (and even then skepticism is prudent) we should keep all options open.. and in this case it hints to a worst case scenario...

heheh, yeah exactly!!

I dunno about you but, when I get out of the shower the first thing I always do is grab my laptop and pull up some nuclear spec sheets!! And, we all know how notorious doors are for bashing in peoples skulls when they fall in to them.... Towels are highly over rated for drying off with anyway..

Shew...

Given the utter lack of anyone crying foul...apart from the OP blog...it's *probably* accidental death. Even influential/rich/powerful people can die unexpectedly. It isn't just normal folk who have domestic accidents

Yeah it just seems that these type of people are way more accident prone than the rest of us......

Yes I recently learned this kind of accident can kill someone if their head has a large enough acceleration on impact although I certainly don't rule out foul play.

@ 23:37
A few days ago I saw a Sherlock Holmes movie and there was a guy who fell on the floor--marble floor, hit his head, was lying there motionless and here was Watson. And Watson said to Sherlock Holmes "What happened?" And Sherlock Holmes walks over to the guy, touches him and he says "He crushed his skull". He looked very intelligent I must say when he said that "he crushed his skull" and I said "gee that's really physics in action that's 8.01 all the way". A modest, a really modest velocity when he hits the floor but he hit the floor like a billiard ball--the guy was bald for one thing. And so the impact time was very short and when the impact time is short even if you hit the floor with a modest speed the acceleration is high and that was too much and so that's why his skull was crushed. So what matters is the change in velocity and the impact time.
