These people are just sickos.

They pay people to set people up, and torture humans while they go on tv champing about how they protect people, lol.

Murderers going on tv saying this rubbish and the mainstream people buy into it.

Amazing.

Do not confuse Janet Reno and Janet Napolitano. It was Reno who was Attorney General when the Davidians were attacked in Waco, Texas. Napolitano was only the AG of the state of Arizona then...

The real truth is that terrorism does work on the internet with viruses, and spam, and other ugly tools to torment the operator...word processing when the cursor jumps around, and I am sure everyone here has been the victim of some kind of internet annoyance and irritant...

As for knowing when someone is talking about lollipops and knowing that is a code word for the towers, it seems that probably any post could be intercepted and made to look as though it were loaded with phrases intended for a specific receiver...

Idenitfying the logical place to know where a terrorist would hide in a covert way on the internet will be a challenge to the government agencies who are trying to figure it out...at one time, it was said to be through the porn networks..

I find it a bit amusing that people are threatened by this...what have you got to hide anyway? I will speak up and say what I think as I believe freedom of the press applies to discussion groups on the internet as well in any other public forum...

I'm sorry but with the technology and equipment around here, I don't see the internet being monitored or shut off on my side.

For the general public however, This may be unfortunate for them.

Yes get ready to see something like this in the news:

"Billy Thompson was arrested today for leaving a face book message in his neighbors inbox intercepted by LE.
The message contained the statement of "I'm ready for our game of dominoes!" He is being held without bond and housed in a federal detention center outside the U.S. until LE Officials are finished with their investigation.

"And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'

"Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary."

"Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought?... Has it ever occurred to your, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?... The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact, there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking—not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.

Only if George Orwell was here today and could see how right he was.

I've never seen any kind of terroist act and do not know anyone who has, but the only threat i can feel and see is the leaders of the free world. how on earth can people still think that the threat comes from Muslims and Jews, when it's the people shouting peace and war in the same breath that is the major threat to world peace, UN, IMF, WB, USA, UK, G20, G8. FU** them all, fu**ing cowards.

Please people listen George Galloway, i PROMISE you, you will not disapointed one bit.

You know what? Honestly, the internet ruined my life. All it does is make things easily available, online friends and foes, and loss of jobs because almost anything can be done via the computer/internet!

So I don't give a damn if the government wants to fight terrer-ism by monitoring the internet. Too many people are getting hurt just using the computer by both FOREIGNERS and domestic nut-jobs.

The internet is impersonal and prevents people from actually communicating with each other in person - face to face. Even those hand-held cellphone devices for texting messages online kill (while driving, that is).

So yeah, the internet is terreriz-ing people.

Ain't Obamanation grand!

Where else can you find a gang of unpatriotic thugs, including Napolitano, claiming to protect us by enslaving us? Oh, right the Bush gang, right?

Lets face it. Voting one way or the other is not the answer. Left/Right is Same 'ol/Same 'ol.

What's left to do?

Umm If they start monitoring the internet you can easily bypass using strong common sense, encryption using SSL websites, emails using encryption, send files using winzip via password and encryption....come on folks, this may be the impetus people need to be security conscious about their own data.

US is waking up to the fact that it is in the grips of totlitarianism.

Definition of facism: When Government and corporations become inextricably intertwined.

Definition of totalitarianism: When corporations and government and military become inextricably intertwined.

This worries me significantly, alongside the whole 'kill switch' crap going on right now.

I really hate Obama. I made a sincere mistake when I voted for that liar. He has gone back on nearly everything he promised. Obama, and the majority of our 'elected' Senators are guilty of treason in my honest opinion. I strongly believe that they should all commit Harakiri out of shame. I will happily provide the sword, if one of them requests it. I would however prefer they supply their own.

What's next? The 'Great American Firewall'? You want to drive dissent underground? You want to attack our 1st Amendment? You'll quickly find out why we have our 2nd Amendment.

What is good for the UK, and for other parts of the world, is no good for us. Don't even try to force your rhetoric down our throats. Enough is enough. Represent the people, and not your own selfishly motivated interests.

makes me wonder... what American citizens were recruited?

have we had any real terrorist attacks lately?

really? is this claim bunk, or they think that the right wingers are the terrorists now?

They wonder why there is slight dissent going on in this country. its idiots like him that are trying to paint AMERICAN CITIZENS as terrorists!

this is total garbage with no proof, or evidence that Americans are being recruited... just their fear that the people will rise up against them.

soiling your pants much MR. Nepolitanto?

The river was deep but I swam it, Janet
The future is ours so let's plan it, Janet
So please don't tell me to can it, Janet
I've one thing to say and that's

Dammit, Janet, thou art speak with forked tongue, bitch.

I'm surprised that there is any elevated blood pressure over this at all. All the petitions and anger in the world will not stop Janet and Co. from doing whatever it is they say they are going to do. Haven't figure that out yet?
C'mon, there will always be ways for us to communicate. Some of us are REALLY smart people. If one tool is taken away, find or craft another one. Don't let this bitch or anything her ilk does upset you anymore. Hard choices lie ahead, folks. But you're not alone.

Apparently Napolitano is only worried about putting patriotic Americans in jail. Screw all the terrorists that are streaming across the southern border.

They don't have to do that. They can regulate all server providers (ISPs) and that would take care of most people who won't be able to access the internet, or they can regulate and ban certain websites that the aholes want to ban, and or regulate.

This woman, and her ilk are a danger to us, and our civil liberties. I wonder when are WE THE PEOPLE going to DEMAND for these aholes to be put in jail and never again to hold any office of power...

Monitor away.

A great number of US citizens you already are monitoring due to them falling into you so very well expressed 'right wing terrorist' definition.

I contend Janet is not a joke, she has become dangerous to our Constitutional guarantees.

Echelon?

Hasn't this been in place for decades already with the ability to monitor phones, data, email, cell ..... etc ..... The internet was created for the military. Does anyone seriously think it hasn't been monitored all this time?

Just defeat it by using keywords in your every day conversations.

"Damn, Jim had an ATTACK of EXPLOSIVE diarrhea. He bought Imodium and was cured. He said it's THE BOMB."

.... or some other silliness. I used to do that years ago with a friend. During our phone conversations we would throw random keywords and phrases in there. I suppose upon review the spooks heard us laughing about what idiots they were.
