The US government is responsible for the BP oil spill. The reason is that the government did not enforce its own reguations. It is human nature to want to go to the edge of the rules when you are being regulated. So therefore it is understandable that BP or any company under tight regulation, by sheer human nature, would push the limits to see what they can get away with.

If the US government would have done there job and enforced their own rules and regulations, then this spill would have never happened. Also, if they didnt over regulate companies would be more apt to be safer just because it is bad business to take on too much risk.

The thing we get here is that by regulating them so much, they forced their human nature to rebel and take extra risks.

Maybe this is one of the reasons why the Obama administration has used such bully boy tactics against BP.

Clearly, the US regulatiors have a part to play.
