Police seize 100,000 anti-Vladimir Putin books

www.telegraph.co.uk

Russian police seized 100,000 copies of a book critical of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin that activists planned to hand out at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum.

es of 'Putin. The Results. 10 Years on', written by opposition politicians Boris Nemtsov and Vladimir Milov were "intended for participants of the forum",

The folks who wrote, published and planned to distribute this book are brave. You have close to a military state in Russia at the moment, they just strengthened the powers of the state police to include arresting folks who are "about" to commit crimes and now they have conficated this book.

These folks will either get a suite at the gulag or a plutonium cocktail like that gent in London a few years ago.

Combine this internal crackdown, Russia's movement in the former republics, their oil wealth with no desire to consider the environmental impact of exploiting those reserves and their willingness to shun international opinion and you've got a large problem.

Russia is a major problem and will continue to get worse. It is one thing for a weak country like Iran to talk tough. Russia acts tough and with the weakness of the US both in leadership, economic status and our military exposure on so many fronts makes this trend troubling.

It will be interesting to see what happens to these folks.

Well there's 900,000 more of them out there, so this police action will probably just underline the point and make people curious about the book...

Maybe that is the plan???

Secretly promote their book by having their buddies in the police confiscate a ton of them in a VERY HIGH PROFILE publicity stunt!

Brilliant!

Those 900k copies will be sold out in a week!

Man I wish my writings had PR campaigns like this!

Excellent advertisement strategy though. Two thumbs up.
