No health insurance? Well, shoot........

NILES, Mich. -- An out-of-work Michigan woman shot herself in the hope she'd receive medical treatment for a shoulder injury. Kathy Myers says she injured the shoulder a month ago while playing with her dogs. The 41-year-old Niles resident said she's been unable to see a specialist because she can't afford health insurance.

Please explain to me, how Obama forcing people to pay for health insurance, is going to avoid people resorting to tactics like this?

I have a little story.

Today Obama made a speech that infuriated me. Instead of continuing to watch it, I decided to change the channel.

I couldn't find my remote. So I got out of my chair and went to find it, when I twisted my ankle and fell over. Now my Ankle is several sizes larger than normal due to swelling.

It hurts like crazy.

I lost my job. I have no health insurance. I can't go to the doctor tomorrow because I don't have the funds for it.

I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot. I'm just not. That is violent and disgusting.

So instead I'm going ride it out.

In a month - if it isn't better I'll be back to this thread.

I'll let you know if I shot myself in the foot.

Ouch! I hope the swelling goes down soon, and that it isn't more serious!

Personally, I think this woman need to get some psychiatric help, for even thinking of doing what she did, but, who would pay for that?

I also wonder how the hospital is going to collect from her for the emergency room visit. Now her shoulder is really messed up!

Don't do it people...there is no guarantee of success and you are only making your lives harder, and more inconvenient for yourself and others around you. This is not the right way to seek medical attention. It is only making one problem transform into a larger problem.

It's hard for me to understand why people are always worried about who is going to pay for what.

I don't want to say anyone should get things for free.

I don't want anything for free. I honestly want to be a productive person, it's part of what I am as a human being.

The problem here is that this woman couldn't pay for herself. It's unfortunate that no one could step up and offer help.

Money is a broken system.

Giving something or helping someone only to require compensation in paper is a failed system.

There is no answer to who is going to pay for that woman's shoulder.

Taxes, I guess. But then we get into more questions.

Why does she get something for free just because she's poor?
Why are taxes going to people that aren't paying the majority of them?
Why did the universe force me to continue watching Obama's horrible speech by having me injure myself trying to change what I was watching? (Ok that one is unrelated but seriously, that was a terrible speech)

Asking who is going to take responsibility for something is avoiding the real problem. It doesn't matter who is responsible, because it's already happened.

We need a solution to our economy.

Obama's health care bill is a disgusting Obamination (lol that makes me giggle), and will do nothing to stop people like that woman from finding ways to get around the system.

I feel for her suffering though. My foot really freaking hurts.

The thing is stupid big, only costs about 10 bucks at Walgreens, and is impossible to lose.

Think of it as money well spent if it prevents you from having to watch another speech by the retard.

I had one of the best healthcare insurances around. THAT does NOT mean you are going to get good healthcare. PERIOD!

I wanted to get to the bottom of my arthritis. Went to two different appointments in FIVE YEARS. You know what came out of their FRELLING MOUTHS to this question, " I would like to find out why or how my arthritis and joint pain exists?" here was their frelling response BOTH times-we do not like to prescribe pain pills.

Like that is WHY I FRELLING went to the doctor. TWO FRELLING times in 5 years I went to the doctor and this is the FRELLING response I get. Oh you people are going to JUST LOVE your healthcare system now!

Besides the asinine docs, you are going to have the gov involved, just wonderful.

That's a bummer. I'm here at work and I stepped on a shard of broken glass. So naturally to remove it I broke off another shard of glass and used it to pry out the other piece of glass. Now I have a huge gaping hole in my foot and it is burning really badly. Who is going to pay for this? Now there is blood spilled all over the floor. Who is going to clean this up? I think I'll nuke it. That'll solve it!!!!

Well in theory, nuking it would solve the problem.

Your foot wouldnt hurt anymore, and there wouldnt be any blood spillage to worry about cleaning.

Its people like you that get things done through alternative, yet viable solutions such as the one you put forth.

Can we Nuke Obama? Stuff keeps spewing from him, like the health care bill and this last speech, and I don't believe I was the only one to injure myself in great desperation to save myself from his dis informative words.

Yes, yes. Nuking my foot seems to be the only way to plug it. I thought long and hard over what to do about it, (3 seconds to be exact) and it seems to be the only way. Some moron just told me to stick a bandage on it and to blame the person who actually caused the gargantuan hole in my foot. (Me.) (Pfft. . . but I'm not going to own up to that. I'll just pawn all the blame on someone else.) It's logistics. Don't argue.

Unemployed and hittin rock bottom financialy, the side of my jaw is swollen, it's not like an injury you can ride out, it only get's worse, and I have no idea what to do.

I propose that we gather as a nation and use our alternative resources and government mandated "green" products combined with nuclear bombing to resolve the problem with Obama.

First, we shall take an eco-friendly reusable earth tote bag and cover his head. (If he can't see us, we can't see him.) Think about it, I didn't.

Second, we must put him in a dark room with a chair made from recyclable goods and a energy efficient light bulb only.

Third, we nuke it.

Fourth, clean up will be easy as pie, as we used all biodegradable products.

How sad! Dentists are usually more willing to set up a payment plan. Call around to a few. It sounds like you need antibiotics, too.

So not only are you in pain, with a bad tooth, you probably need a prescription.

If you took it to the extreme that this woman did, it would mean shooting yourself in the head!

Draevin, I'm really sorry to hear about your ankle sprain, and believe me, I totally understand what it's like to have no health insurance and not be able to afford needed medical care.

But since I work in the medical field and in the spirit of maybe helping with a little advice, just in case you don't know:
1. Stay off of your foot as much as possible, preferably completely off your foot for 2 to 3 days if possible.
2. Elevate your foot up on a couple of pillows as much as you can.
3. Apply ice for 15 to 20 minutes every few hours throughout the day (be sure you don't leave the ice on for any longer than 20 minutes).

I do hope it gets better soon for you, but whatever you do, don't shoot yourself in the foot. Because that will surely make it hurt a lot worse!

don't wait
mix these together in a glass pot like a coffe maker is perfect
run decent water straight through on to the herbs and spices
these are cheep cheep cheep

yarrow grows free as does the plantain

once the water has a decent amount of colour start
leave the mixture steeping the balls and change every couple hours or so
for a fresh cotton ball
MAKE SURE IT IS ON THE LUMP

if you have a monster swelling make enough to soak a face cloth in it and put on the outside in addition too the cotton ball so it soaks in the heat opened pores too

DO NOT BOIL
soak a cotton ball in the mixture

two table spoons of dried yarrow flowers
table spoon euchinacea
half teaspooncloves
