There’s a tree in Wallingford where some people say they see the divine.

A knot on an elm tree has morphed into what some thinks looks like the face of Jesus, the Meriden Record-Journal reports.

The mystical image seems to have filled a spot where the town cut down a low-hanging limb in front of 394 N. Main St. several years ago.

David Doolittle has lived at the house since 1985 and three weeks ago, he began to see dark colorations, the newspaper reports. On Saturday, he saw the face.

To me, it looks like the Jesus on "South Park" from Com Cen. I'm not religious and my family is Jewish so I figured that my interpretation of this tree-knot is bias. What do others think, particularly Christians? A sign from god... or just a knot in the tree?

I say it's just a knot in a tree. How can we find out what Jesus looked like when he was here? I personally don't believe in Jesus. But if he was real then he looked way different.

In all seriousness I see a badger.

I also could see where someone might possibly see Jesus, if he was born with that Harlequin syndrome/disease (not sure what it is, because I don't know much about it).

Which - Harlequin Jesus is kind of a scary thought in my simple mind.

It's very, very discomforting that I'm not kidding in any form.

But if Jesus was trying to hand down a sign, would he not use the image that everyone knows? It really wouldn't be a sign otherwise, no?

This isn't as cool as seeing him on toast. Seems in a rush to avoid being called a Doubting Thomas some religious folks have become FAR too gullible. This whole trend of seeing Jesus in random stuff is so weird, especially when NO ONE knows what Jesus really looked like.
