Hey, stay safe over there!

@abecedarian: that got my mind whirring..

I have only felt/heard 1 earthquake. 80 k's from the centre. Felt and sounded like someone had cranked the biggest set of speakers you could imagine (think pink floyd), loaded up the bass, and pumped the volume 7 or 8 times.

And yeah, try and keep safe. WE are lees EQ frequent here if you need a change!
But don't tell everyone.

Thank you OP and other real time, in person reporters. I'm riveted listening to your accounts and wish you all the best. My earthquake twitter is going off the charts with several continuing earthquakes and I recall seeing some from earlier today in the same location.

We appreciate you and hope you stay safe. The MSM, of course, has nothing on this - none of the stations as of yet.

Thanks so much!

This is kind of scary. There's been at least 25 aftershocks, 2.5 to 3.5, and I now just felt another one. USGS has these last two listed as a 4.0 and 4.5, so it looks like they might be increasing in intensity. But there sure are a LOT of them.

OMG - is it normal to have THAT many aftershocks so close together? I know aftershocks are normal but so many??

Just counted 33 aftershocks in 30 mins. Wow!

Did anyone else notice Twitter went down right before the EQ? I'm thinking possible test to see if they can shut down Twitter just like cell phones always go out in an EQ. Prevent the flow of information in case of a disaster. Anyone else thinking like this?

I am in So Cal. I did not feel the quake because I live up in the mountains.

I wonder if the ones up north around Borrego, south of Hemet, earlier this week released some tension, setting things up for this?

All joking aside from my earlier post that looks pretty serious from al the aftershocks and so close together. Also is it possible to have bigger ones after smaller ones or not?

I'm here in L.A. and did feel it. I tried to get on Twitter too. Maybe it was overloaded/server went down?

Not trying to stir you up. I figured I'd say it first though, although I intended it to be humorous.

I sure hope it is. But I think it's starting to calm down, or atleast take longer between each after-shock. Here are the last two.

MAP 3.5 2010/06/15 05:08:28 32.667 -115.930 7.6 10 km ( 6 mi) SE of Ocotillo, CA
MAP 4.5 2010/06/15 04:59:45 32.708 -115.948 10.4 6 km ( 4 mi) SE of Ocotillo, CA

Roughly 9 Min difference.

I think the amount of shaking going on suggests immense instability in the fault lines, it's anyone's guess but I can't help but feel these to be a precursor to something further north. It looks as though there's a real back-up of pressure building at the T-junction of the quakes north of the current swarms. I think there will be some release out to sea, too, soon - perhaps S.Barbara channel region

Yep, bigger one's can follow. It's hard to tell a fore-shock though, until after the bigger one comes. And even then, they sometimes will say one quake may have triggered another but are not related....

My prayers are with you guys and me right now.
The last time you got hit like this we got slammed up north here! I think it was called the loma preada (sp?) or something like that. It rose up a mountain chain by me three feet for over ten miles. Just cracked right up the middle.(we are right next to the north end of the San Andreas fault line)
Going to be up for a bit will let you know if we get hit with anything up here.

It appears the quake was not on the San Andreas but rather on either the Elsinore Fault Zone: en.wikipedia.org... or the Laguna Salada Fault en.wikipedia.org... , likely the latter.

Loma Prieta, Close enough.

Either the earthquakes/aftershocks just suddenly stopped, or they are not being updated.
