Interesting video. However, the real history of modern day Iran goes back to about 1933, when someone suggested that they change their name from Persia to Iran.

Iran means "Aryan" in Farsi. Do you know who suggested the name change? Adolf Hitler!

interesting!

more on this:

When "Persia" became "Iran"; Nazi Germans suggested the name IRAN to the Persian ambassador to Germany. The name Iran is a cognate of the Aryan meaning "Land of the Aryans."

(This information is taken in part from "Persia or Iran" by Professor Ehsan Yarshater, published in Iranian Studies, Vol. XXII, No.1, 1989.)

In 1935 the Iranian government requested those countries which it had diplomatic relations with, to call Persia "Iran," which is the name of the country in Persian.

The suggestion for the change is said to have come from the Persian (Iranian) ambassador to Germany in the 1930's, who came under the influence of the Nazis. At the time Nazi Germany was in the grip of racial fever and cultivated good relations with nations of "Aryan" blood. Some Nazi party friends of the ambassador persuaded him that, as with the advent of Reza Shah, Persia had turned a new leaf in its history and had freed itself from the pernicious influences of Britain and Russia, whose interventions in Persian affairs had practically crippled the country under the Qajars, it was only fitting that the country be called by its own name, "Iran." This would not only signal a new beginning and bring home to the world the new era in Iranian history, but would also signify the Aryan race of its population, as "Iran" is a cognate of "Aryan" and derived from it.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent out a circular to all foreign embassies in Tehran, requesting that the country thenceforth be called "Iran." Diplomatic courtesy obliged, and by and by the name "Iran" began to appear in official correspondence and news items.

This was a very well made and concise explanation of the situations and history that shape the relationship Iran has with the world today.

[...]persuaded him that, as with the advent of Reza Shah, Persia had turned a new leaf in its history and had freed itself from the pernicious influences of Britain and Russia, whose interventions in Persian affairs had practically crippled the country under the Qajars, it was only fitting that the country be called by its own name, "Iran."
This is the important part from what you have quoted.

from wiki
Rezā Shāh, was the Shah of the Imperial State of Iran from December 15, 1925 until he was forced to abdicate by the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran in September 16, 1941.

When thinking about ww2 - its stupid to think of it as the free world vs. the nazis. "The overall character of the Second World War must be grasped as a combination of five different conflicts:

1. An inter-imperialist war fought for world hegemony and won by the United States (though its rule would be territorially truncated by the extension of the non-capitalist sector in Europe and Asia).

2. A just war of self-defence by the Soviet Union against an imperialist attempt to colonize the country and destroy the achievements of the 1917 Revolution.

3. A just war of the Chinese people against imperialism which would develop into a socialist revolution.

4. A just war of Asian colonial peoples against the various military powers and for national liberation and sovereignty, which in some cases (e.g. Indochina) spilled over into socialist revolution.

5. A just war of national liberation fought by populations of the occupied countries of Europe, which would grow into socialist revolution (Yugoslavia and Albania) or open civil war (Greece, North Italy). In the European East, the old order collapsed under the dual, uneven pressure of popular aspirations and Soviet military-bureaucratic action, whereas in the West and South bourgeois order was restored — often against the wishes of the masses — by Western Allied troops." (Ernest Mandel)

So you can't just say "Oh, Iran changed their name to Ayrans that means they're Nazi and that means their evil - and americas hands are clean" - its precisely this kind of binary thought we have been conditioned into that allows us to be manipulated.
