Well, don't know if this has been posted, but it's on CBS News:

www.cbsnews.com...

This disaster is looking to be worse than everyone thinks. I know this can't be good, 9/11 is one of the worst disasters in HISTORY!

Hopi prophecy anyone? I hope not...

9/11 was nothing compared to this: that's a bad analogy. It was basically a local disaster confined to a few square blocks of New York. Huge political implications, but really nothing much physically.

Not comparable to the Haiti earthquake, not comparable to Katrina, and certainly not comparable to this. If 9/11 had happened in Minneapolis, it would have been a four-day story.

I sure hope he doesn't try to minimize this by such a comparison.

This thing has its own unique scale on which 9/11 wouldn't even rate a footnote.

O common..9/11 worst disaster in history. You obviously have not read that many history books have you? He was just comparing them, does not mean anything special. I still think though that the Hopi prophecy is pretty interesting, a lot of stuff there to unravel.

Obama making this connection seems logical, and 9/11 is not even in the top 5000 "worst disasters in history." It was tragic, especially for New Yorkers, and it did lead to a lot of political shake-up in the world, but it was only 3000 people and a few buildings. It did not come close to comparing to any of the numerous wars, genocides, tsunamis, Hurricanes, etc. 9/11 isn't even in the top 500 disasters to hit the United States in the last 300 years!
