Lol what's the bad thing about that? We must have read different articles if you consider that "evil". Making people eat healthier in America that's the world's most obese and stupid country as well as trying to promote mental health and prevent domestic violence.

If you guys are stupid enough not to do those things for yourselves maybe it's time an administration shoved it down your throats.

The legislation includes provisions for dealing with mental health. You could quite conceivably get behavioral modification for visiting abovetopsecret.com .

How would that tie into the health care bill? Easily. See a psychiatrist? Or have prescription drugs that are covered by your insurance? Not anymore as long as you are signed up as a member of ATS.

I think this is what you were looking for, our rights down the drain.
For anyone who may not worry about this, it is like the gun control question. If we give away one inch it puts their foot in the door to take more.
Death by a thousand cuts if you will, Oh and YOU WILL!

That's some great biased blogging there! Glad someone provided a link to the actual order...which says I don't really have to do anything.

What's the problem again? The DHHS overseeing a committee designed to try and make you healthy via pamphlets at your local pharmacy? Oh no, not propoganda!

Thank goodness for the Hitler reference. You're right, I'm headed straight for the gas chambers because...oh wait, I voted for Obama I'm safe.

Yeah you're right, what's a few million dollars more added to the national debt at this point, right? Especially if it is spent on pamphlets from the ever so benign federal government. I suppose I, and everyone else should thank such an erudite person such as yourself for voting for this guy. You're a real swell guy, just looking out for all of us, I suppose.

The President’s desired lifestyle behavior modifications detailed in Sec. 6 (c) focus on:

■smoking cessation;
■proper nutrition;
■appropriate exercise;
■mental health;
■behavioral health;
■sedentary behavior (see Sec. 3 [c]);
■substance-use disorder; and
■domestic violence screenings.

Making matters even worse, if that is even possible at this point, President Obama will create an “Advisory Group” composed of experts hand-picked from the public health field and various other areas of expertise “outside the Federal Government.

I give up. I fail to see how this is a bad thing.

And also why would an advisory group who's not part of the government be bad? If I'm having troubles with friends I don't ask those friends for advice I go outside the norm for advice... I mean I really just don't understand at all how this is bad.

the government let's us be fat, lazy, unhealthy citizens and oh noes! they must be stopped! But as soon as they realize that people need to be healthier, once again oh noes! they must be stopped!

ATS is starting to make me think that thing's aren't as sinister as so many people think they are.

Sec. 7. Administration.

(a) The Department of Health and Human Services shall provide funding and administrative support for the Council and the Advisory Group to the extent permitted by law and within existing appropriations.

It's already funded. The emphasis is mine.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

We have a winner! You are absolutely, 110% correct.

Does anybody really think that this EO, so closely following the ramrodding of health care "reform", is unrelated?

Obama, and his band of Socialist/Communist insiders, are going to transform America all right...and don't pretend he didn't tell you he was going to do it.

While all of you were falling in love with the idea of voting for the first-ever Black President (who is just as white as he is Black anyway), and swooning at his rhetoric and all starry-eyed by his his international star power...he really was planning to "fundamentally transform America".

So....if you want America to have any chance of keeping its identity, and of preserving the freedoms so many millions have died for, there are three simple steps that you need to take:

1) Vote out all Democrats and Democratic sympathizing Republicans in the November 2010 elections. This will put Congress into a position to strongly block and counter any more of Obama's socialist directives for the next two years.
2) Get out and help and support the organizing and energizing of a viable third-party force and option. Get behind the emerging third-party candidate(s). For once in your life, get politically active!
3) In November, 2012, vote Obama out...and America's old values back in.

This is the real (and likely only) way Americans can fight and win a revolution against both the old-boys club - and the extreme left socialism that the Obama adminstration is now embedding.

Act before it is too late!

You're projecting and transferring your own belief system on other members, sport. Most members in this site do not view the government as a body that "let's" us do anything, but rather view that government as a body concerned with what it won't "let" us do.

Yeah, I go through phases like that too, then I read posts like yours and realize just how sinister things really are. If only you were telling the truth when you claimed that you give up.

Just do what Obama says.

It might seem brutal that he's letting the oil spill go on and wants behaviour modification. But through cap and trade and initiatives like this he's trying to prepare the American people for World War 3. A major new war is inevitable.

Not everyone is going to make it.

If you represent what is not stupid then by all means give me stupid. For years now the federal government has been dictating what the American people can and can not eat through the FDA and the USDA, and prior to the ascendancy of these administrative agencies Americans didn't have a problem with obesity at all. The stupidity of Americans you refer to is directly linked to the state owned and controlled education system, and prior to its ascendancy Americans were the most literate people in the world. But, by all means, tell us what you think government should make us do, and while you're at it, keep pretending you're the smartest clown of the bunch.

Most of us are well aware of Codex Alimentarius, corn subsidies, genetically modified foods & collusion with the FDA and EPA, etc.

But with this specific bill, is there anything specifically unconstitutional in it? The only thing I see when I read over it are recommendations for actual health benefits. I don't see anything in there regarding law enforcement. At the very worst, it seems like psychological manipulation into making people healthier.

There are a couple points in it that were vague, like in Section 3,

(g) carry out such other activities as are determined appropriate by the President.

I'm not saying it's innocent, but before everyone starts loading their guns and marching on the white house, perhaps it should be examined a bit more thoroughly.

Do I really need to explain to you that an Executive Order is not a Bill, and that The POTUS does not have the legal authority to legislate? Dear God what has happened to this country?

I don't believe I ever projected my own view/belief system on anyone, in fact my own opinion is that government in general is morally wrong and shouldn't exist, you know that whole anarchist thing.

But if you wanna go down that road your already wrong. You say "what it wont let us do" well shucks I was under the impression that a government exists to serve the people so by your logic your essentially acting as an enabler. It's not about what they let us do or wet they don't let us do right? it's about what we let the government do.

Which lead's me into my next point, your letting it say what you can or can't do, in a republic people go out and vote for members of the governing body with views as closely matched to their own, so when you go out and vote your giving your seal of approval for these different measures to happen, so therefore there letting you do whatever you want to do, which is carried out by thoroughly researching those candidates you wanna vote for.

Could you keep up, sport?

Oh trust me I am telling the truth, I give up in trying to understand why people find issues with everything and then two year's down the road look at what they were complaining about so hard and say "hmm that wasn't so bad" then turn around and find something else to worry about

EDIT: had to fix my kooky quote tags

Yeah right, trust you? Some guy who claims to be an anarchist while scolding people for having a problem with an Executive Order that deigns to mandate lifestyle behavior modification. Please.

Oooh excellent dodge their, if only I had been that good at dodging questions I might have been class president back in high school.

Ignoring my personal beliefs, this executive order will still affect my life. Just because you don't agree with something, does not mean I have to know nothing about it. Ignorance is bliss, and my life is hell. It's like driving, I hate it so much and I really wish folk's still rode horses everywhere, but it's a part of my life so I learn about it.

Seriously though awesome evasion skills, I'm kinda jealous.

Well, the Obama Administration certainly has not let the British Petroleum (BP) Deepwater Horizon oil rig crisis go to waste, using it as a smokescreen to silently assault and further diminish American citizens’ personal freedom.

I looked up this monstrosity and it turns out that this was passed through last year and takes effect on July 1st this year.

This was not snuck through under the distraction of the oil spill. It was snuck through under the distraction of the health care debates. Still though, it is a monstrosity.

you people who are offended by this are stupid; this effects the legal person the government recognizes not the body you do.if anything this will strengthen people who choose to be federal; and be a positive influence on people who call them "selves" americans.

The inherent role of ANY govrnment is to restrict and curtail freedoms for "the betterment" of the whole. More money wasted, another step towards totalitarian utopia.

I am with you 100% good buddy. People need to wake up and smell the illegal personal organic garden. They don't want you healthy, they just want more of the decisions that should be the individuals. They don't want you to stop smoking, they just want to make sure you only put the really nasty government sponsored chemicals in your body. They want to make sure they control who lives and who dies. Also yeah, they want most of us on the dead side. Wake up before it's too late!
