I just use my computers paint and 'copy and paste' a little bit of changing of size and that's it. I don't know how to create cool avatars.

I look at many members Avatars and I just think, how do they do that!? I'm not talking about a moving avater, just a cool personal avatar.

How do you make them?

with simple programs like GIMP or photoshop, or InkScape.

I recommend GIMP and Inkscape as they are free.
and once learned.. can do as much, or more than photoshop.

There are great tutorials for all of them.

What kind of stuff are you thinking?

I do believe a few members make some excellent avatars.

You could try AshleyD, i know she is probably busy with the Conspiracy Chicks show but she may be able to advise you.

Good luck, i really should sort one out for myself too.

Thank you, I will be checking them out ASAP.

I don't know really, just whatever pops into my head. I want it to represent me, just as most Avatars represent the person.

Just have a cool personality, then you won't need one to do the talking for you !

Could you give some examples?

I'm curious as to what you mean by cool avatars, but not moving?

Anything that you DON'T have to download? I really don't need to add anything else to my computer, it's been going a lot slower lately.

Like anything that doesn't look like you just 'copy and pasted'. Yours' for example, it's pretty cool and its' not a 'copy and paste'.

I'd prefer to make my own. I am a very picky person.

Please post it on the thread when you found or get the avatar advice

I'd like to know as well.

I've always used Photoshop. There are other programs out there but that has always been my favorite and the one I've used for years.

Mine's 'copy and paste', it's just cropped and resized. I'm trying to figure out exactly what you want to do? I'm still not following. Do you want something that's hand made unique to you? Or a certain effect?

I use Corel Paint Shop pro X3, just gather together all the images that you want to work with and manipulate them until you achieve the desired result.

I'm happy with my avatar for the time being and I'm currently working on one for XxRagingPandaxX.

I'm trying to find the best way to explain it. Umm.... I want to create and design my own avater, with it's own texture and visual effects, its' own background and creating writing.

Does that help?

Then go with PS, like AshleyD and others have said. You can download the trial from Adobe. There's a bit of learning curve, but there are plenty of tutorials out there. I personally like Paint Shop Pro but that's just me.

Meh ... who pays attention to avatars anyway.

Btw, in the Member Art forum in BTS there are many kind members who offer avatar help. Perhaps you could ask some of them for some instructions to get you started.

Said it before and I'll say it again , that HAS GOT to be the coolest one I've seen so far !

I've got a nice one in mind for myself , but I'm way too old to try to learn how to do all of that .

Maybe I'll break down and ask for help one of these days .

I've seen some nice ones by the member 'boy in a dress' .
